If you want to quiet your mind — or enjoy a meditation while walking or hiking, this noting meditation is wonderful to experience. You can also do this throughout your daily life when you're not working or in conversation!

If you are doing this while seated I invite you to sit with your back straighter than usual.

You can have your eyes fully open for this or closed whichever you prefer.

You can also do noting as a walking meditation walking through your neighborhood or your lawn in your backyard or on a hike or really in any walking situation at all.

I'm going to do this while sitting with my eyes closed.

Thinking Feeling Hearing Feeling Feeling Feeling Hot-ing Warm-ing Feeling Feeling Feeling Hot-ing Relaxing De-stressify-ing Seeing Feeling Hearing Hot-ing It's warm in this room!

Hearing Seeing I even see specks of light with my eyes closed.

Hearing Sound of my own voice Hot-ing Feeling Feeling the ground underneath my feet Hearing Sound of my own voice Thinking Hearing My computer is whirring as I record this Feeling Feeling I'm holding the bar that I ring the bell with Hearing Hearing Hot-ing Feeling Feeling Feeling as I feel the ground underneath me Thinking Wondering what you're thinking of this noting meditation Hearing Someone is clearly talking in the room outside where I am recording this Hot-ing Noticing the temperature Feeling Stressing Wondering if I'm talking too much Hearing Voices Seeing Still seeing bars of light even with my eyes closed Feeling Feeling the clothing on my arms Relaxing Starting to relax into this noting meditation Hearing Seeing Feeling Now really feeling body sensations Going deeper Stressing Wondering what you're thinking of this Thinking Hearing Feeling Relaxing Feeling I'm definitely sweating now Either nerves or the heat Relaxing Muscles in my face Feeling my hands in my lap Hearing the whirring of my computer Moving Moving my head a bit Relaxing Seeing Calming Wondering And hopefully you get an idea of a noting meditation
