Welcome to this guided meditation for goal-setting.

This meditation will help you to set goals that are not only achievable,

But also satisfying and challenging.

Let's begin by closing our eyes and focusing on the breath.

As you relax and observe the breath,

Notice how it naturally deepens.

Notice the muscles of your face and neck.

Allow these muscles to soften and relax.

Notice the muscles of your shoulders and arms.

Drop your shoulders and breathe down deeper into your body.

Feel your hands growing warm and tingly with the increased flow of energy.

Feel your legs growing heavy as you ground yourself with the energy of the earth.

As our story begins,

Imagine that you are sitting in your garden,

Daydreaming about your goals and wondering how to achieve them.

Your reverie is interrupted by a knock at the gate.

You get up to open the gate,

But there's no one there.

As you look around,

A mysterious path appears before you.

You wonder where the path will lead,

So you begin walking.

After a while,

The path ends at a pool of water with a fountain in the center.

You sit down on a bench next to the pool and gaze at the water.

Then you notice the reflection of someone standing on the other side of the pool.

You look up to see an old woman.

Her strange appearance causes you to exclaim,

Are you my fairy godmother?

The woman answers with a playful smile.

You could call me that.

I'm here to help you with your goals.

I notice that you are having trouble figuring out how to achieve your goals.

You acknowledge that you could use some help.

The fairy godmother says,

Wonderful!

Let's get to work.

First,

I'd like you to tell me what is the minimum that you would need to achieve in order to feel satisfied with your goal.

In other words,

What is the least that you would have to do before you know that you have reached the goal?

Take two minutes to answer this question.

When the time is up,

The fairy godmother says,

Excellent!

Now take a moment to put it in a time frame.

How long do you expect to be working on your goal before you reach this minimum level of achievement?

The fairy godmother continues.

Now for the next step.

I'd like you to visualize the full accomplishment of your goal,

If you achieved it to your total satisfaction.

Take two minutes to describe it in detail.

When you are done,

The fairy godmother says,

That's perfect!

Once again,

Let's put it in a time frame.

How long do you plan to be working towards this outcome?

The fairy godmother continues.

Now for the challenging part.

I believe that you are capable of far more than you have imagined so far.

She gets a nostalgic look on her face.

I remember when I was working with Cinderella.

She told me that she just wanted to go out for the evening,

But I helped her dream bigger and look where she is now,

Living in a castle with her prince.

I want the same level of success for you.

What would it look like if you dream big?

How can you expand your goal to an outstanding degree of success?

I'd like you to take two minutes to imagine a whole new scenario with your expanded goal.

When you are finished,

The fairy godmother says,

Consider that you may need to put in some extra effort to achieve this level of success,

But your dedication will be greatly rewarded.

What are you willing to do in order to succeed?

Spend one minute imagining the steps you might take to reach your goal.

When you are done,

The fairy godmother says,

Now it's time for me to go.

Thank you for allowing me to join you.

There's nothing that makes me happier than seeing you succeed.

She smiles kindly as her figure begins to fade away.

Thank you,

Fairy godmother,

You say.

You look around and see that the pool of water is dissolving,

And the path is beckoning you back to your own garden.
