Welcome to this guided meditation for fear of failure.
My name is Diane.
In this meditation,
You will meet someone who will help you to focus on a positive mindset so you can overcome your fears and experience success.
Let's begin by closing our eyes and focusing on the breath.
As you relax and observe the breath,
Notice how it naturally deepens.
Notice the muscles of your face and neck.
Allow these muscles to soften and relax.
Notice the muscles of your shoulders and arms.
Drop your shoulders and breathe down deeper into your body.
Feel your hands growing warm and tingly with the increased flow of energy.
Feel your legs growing heavy as you ground yourself with the energy of the earth.
Now I'd like you to imagine that you are sitting on your covered back porch on a rainy day.
You are feeling discouraged because you have suffered a setback,
And you are starting to wonder if you will ever succeed in reaching your goals.
A bird flies under the cover of the porch and lands a few feet away from you.
You and the bird watch each other for a few seconds.
Then to your surprise,
The bird begins to speak.
You're looking rather down today,
The bird says.
Yeah,
I guess I am,
You reply.
The bird responds.
Ah,
I see.
You are afraid of failure.
You realize that this is a very intuitive bird.
He continues.
The doubts you experience when you suffer a setback are like the worms that surface when it rains.
They're not pretty to look at,
But they can be food for growth.
What are the negative and self-critical thoughts that are going through your mind right now?
Take one minute to name them.
When the time is up,
The bird continues.
I'd like you to notice how these beliefs make you feel.
Now choose one of the negative beliefs and ask yourself this question.
Is there an exception to this rule?
For example,
If the belief is,
I can't do anything right,
Then think of a time when you actually did something right.
Spend one minute thinking about the possible exceptions to your negative belief.
Now ask yourself,
How would I rather feel?
Take 30 seconds to decide how you want to feel.
In order to feel this way,
You need a new belief.
What belief would create this better feeling?
Take a minute to choose your new belief.
Now that you have a new belief,
How can you prove to yourself that it's true?
We are always looking for evidence to prove our existing beliefs.
How can you gather evidence to prove this new positive belief?
Take one minute to think of what you need to do.
Now I'd like you to imagine how you will feel once you have proven your new belief.
Do this for 30 seconds.
The bird continues.
There are no failures,
Only learning experiences and opportunities for growth.
The tree of life grows out of the compost of experience,
And its branches reach towards the sky.
When you experience a setback,
Ask yourself what you can learn from it.
The silver lining is in the learnings.
Don't just look for the silver lining.
Create it.
You are the one who puts the meaning on everything that happens to you,
So choose your meanings wisely.
You can only live one day at a time.
What step can you take today to move closer to your goal?
Take one minute to think of this step.
The bird gives you a final bit of advice.
When you are afraid of failure,
It simply means that what you are trying to do is important to you.
If you truly value it,
You will find a way to succeed.
Ah,
I see that the sun is peeking out from behind the clouds.
Well,
You know what they say.
The early bird gets the worm.
The bird bids you farewell,
And he flies away.
Now you may like to take some time to relax and enjoy your own energy.
I will be silent for the rest of the time.
