Guided Meditation for Creativity,
The museum.
This is a guided meditation to increase creativity and stimulate creative ideas.
It's a good morning meditation with a fun storyline,
Or you can use it as a guided sleep meditation to help you create your future by bringing creative ideas into your dreams.
Let's begin by getting into a comfortable position,
Either sitting or laying down.
Close your eyes and breathe deeply.
With each in-breath,
Fill up the lower belly,
Then the chest,
And then the head.
With each out-breath,
Just relax and let it go naturally.
Let's breathe like this for one minute.
Now I'd like you to imagine that you are visiting at the home of a very eccentric friend.
This friend is a brilliant scientist.
You are sitting in a comfortable armchair as your friend tells you about his latest invention.
It's a time machine.
You listen to your friend's wild story with growing skepticism.
You know that your friend is a creative inventor,
But time travel?
It must be a joke.
Your friend notices the skeptical look on your face,
And he says,
I can prove it.
Follow me.
He leads you down into the basement of his house.
In the basement,
There are many strange things that you would expect to find in the basement of a mad scientist.
Maybe he really is cracked,
You think to yourself.
Your friend leads you down a hallway to a room with a closed door.
He slowly opens the door and says in a hushed tone,
There is my greatest invention.
You follow your friend into the room.
The time machine isn't much to look at.
After all,
Your friend is a scientist,
Not an artist.
Does it work,
You ask?
Of course,
He replies nonchalantly.
He motions for you to follow him into the time machine.
It's just big enough for two people to stand.
He closes the door and starts pushing buttons.
You hear a series of strange noises,
And you feel an odd sensation in the pit of your stomach,
Like an elevator going up.
A few seconds later,
You feel another odd sensation,
And your friend says,
Here we are.
Where,
You ask?
You mean when,
He replies with a grin.
We are in the future.
I'm not sure how far we have traveled.
I still need to work out a few bugs,
But we are definitely in the future.
He opens the door and steps out of the time machine.
You follow him,
Shaking your head and wondering if it's time to get your friend an appointment with a psychiatrist.
To your amazement,
You are no longer in your friend's basement.
You look around at what appears to be the city where your friend lives,
But it's not quite the same.
Your friend says,
I'm guessing that we have traveled about 100 years into the future.
Let's go to the museum.
The museum is just a few blocks away.
When you arrive,
You see a large sign that lists all the different sections of the museum.
There's a section for everything.
Music,
Art,
Science,
And many other things.
Your friend explains,
This is the largest museum in the world.
It contains all the creative works of human beings throughout history.
I am going to the science section.
Meet me back here in a little while.
Your friend leaves,
And you look at the sign again.
You choose a section of the museum to visit,
Based on your own creative interests.
When you arrive in your section,
You are truly astonished at the large collection of items.
You recognize many of them,
But some are completely foreign to you.
Then you remember that this is a museum of the future,
And some of these things haven't been created yet in your time.
Take a few minutes to browse through this section,
Looking for creative ideas.
After a while,
You come to a sign that says Holographic Guides.
The sign instructs you to choose the name of a famous creator.
You decide to talk to someone whose work you have always admired.
You push the button next to their name,
And a very realistic,
Interactive hologram appears right in front of you.
They introduce themselves and ask you what you would like to know.
Take a couple of minutes to converse with the hologram,
And ask any questions about creativity that are on your mind.
You you you you you At the end of the conversation,
The hologram says,
Would you like to see your own creations?
You stare wide-eyed at the hologram.
Are you serious,
You ask?
How could my work be in a museum?
The hologram smiles and says,
This is a very large museum.
There's room for everyone's creations.
The hologram tells you where to find your own corner of the museum and bids you farewell.
You find the section with your name on it,
But you are confused.
You don't recognize any of these things.
Then you remember that these are the things you will create in the future.
Take a few minutes to look at your future creations.
You you you you you you you you You suddenly realize that it's time to meet your friend back at the entrance.
You reluctantly leave your section,
Hoping to come back soon.
When you arrive at the entrance,
Your friend smiles at the look on your face.
All you can say is,
When can we come back?
You are sure that he is just as excited about this place as you are.
Then the two of you head back to the time machine.
Before you know it,
You are back in your friend's basement.
Fortunately,
He has perfected the time machine's homing device,
So you arrive back at almost the same instant in the timeline as when you left.
Your mind is buzzing with creative ideas,
And you're eager to go home and start working on your future creations.
You leave your friend with a promise to visit him again soon.
Now it's time to come back from the meditation.
Breathe deeply and feel your body.
When you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Stretch,
And come back to the present moment.
