#22 Be Thoughtless | Yoga Sutras Of Patanjali | Daily Live Meditation
This session marks the end of the first pillar 'Samadhi Pada' of our journey into Yoga sutras of Patanjali. He says that a state of thoughtless awareness leads to Truth, Consciousness and Bliss, Sat-chit-ananda. And if you can even transcend that, you are liberated. You are free from the cycle of birth and death. Join me in a 30 min meditation session every day at 7 AM CET on my website.

Namaste and welcome to this daily live meditation session with me the answer my salutations to the knowledge of yoga to Patanjali for bringing this knowledge to us and for us to have this chance to go through this knowledge to bring this knowledge to our life the much needed light that we need in our life in these times.
The whole effort of Patanjali has been in these sutras that he has presented to us in the first part the samadhi padha is to set the right perception to for us to separate between the truth and the lie for us to separate between the perception and the reality and he talks about how we are how we can and have the ability to concentrate our mind and and see that our perception changes see so that we can separate the illusion and the reality the perception that is just created by our senses and the truth and as we go through these sutras it almost sounds like an impossibility to achieve those highest levels of samadhi where there is no thought or where there is no reasoning or where there is absolutely no contents in the consciousness all this sounds unachievable all this sounds somewhat impractical and maybe non utilitarian in our daily lives but i would say it is even more important today than ever before these sutras were given thousands of years ago and all across these thousands of years humanity must have benefited from these sutras to uplift their consciousness to come out of the traps to come out of the darkness and move towards light and we need this light even more right now why if you see how much time you're spending on the screen on the digital screens that we are constantly making ourselves more and more addicted to to the computer screens to the mobile screens and all the perception that we are collecting are slowly only sourcing out of those screens observe your life and see how dramatically in the last 5 10 15 years this change has happened where you had moved from the physical reality to the digital reality now you're spending 10 12 hours 15 hours in front of the screen and suddenly you take a walk outside and you see people for real you see things for real suddenly you're shocked that all what you see over there is real and all what you were seeing on the screen was not real same is what patanjali is pointing at he is even saying what you see in the physical world is also not real he wants you to go even further to the absolute reality that sounds like a far-fetched reality a far away task for us to even go there but see that our direction the movement that we have taken for our consciousness is somewhat totally the opposite yes we can say we are moving towards progress moving towards the bright side of life but just see at the cost of what the cost is the consciousness we are losing our consciousness and our ability to differentiate between what is an illusion what is reality and I'm sure if this continues the way it is going right now will come a time where the digital reality will be the reality and who cares about physical reality because we can get all what we want all our pleasures and all our desires will be fulfilled in the digital reality and think of it it is just a screen and we are looking at that screen all the time even in those times when we have nothing to do you must have caught yourself in those moments where you're just looking at your phone without any purpose without any reason you just pull out your phone you take a look at your phone and then you switch it off put it back so you're just more and more getting immersed into that one screen and allowing that screen to show you whatever you are supposed to see whatever brings you quote-unquote further in life right now is the time to still have that judgment to still have that capacity to say that is it has its own place that illusion of the screen that utility of the screen has its own place but that is not the reality then there is this physical reality and if you are interested to find out your truth to find out who you really are to find out what this magnificent life is and you have to go even beyond the physical reality and all along the way it requires that clarity of perception it requires that clarity of mind it requires that clarity of consciousness and all what Patanjali has been doing in the first 50 sutras almost 50 sutras that we have discussed so far is to constantly point out at our ability to have that perception he's encouraging us to move towards that clear perception which is thoughtless which is objectless in in which you still carry always this discrimination this ability to differentiate this intelligence to differentiate what is an illusion what is reality we are coming to almost the closure of the first phase first pillar of yoga sutras of Patanjali yoga sutras of Patanjali have 196 sutras and the first and it has four pillars the first pillar is samadhi padar which is to have that right perception and we are almost at a closure there are two more sutras that I would like to go through with you and we will close that and we will move into sadhana padar from tomorrow on which is the discipline of yoga which is to implement all this understanding all this vision to have that right perception because it cannot be achieved in a day we have come very far from where we should be so to go back to go back home to go back to a place where we belong to have that right perception it needs discipline it needs another set of work on ourselves and inner work that is the sadhana padar which we will discuss starting tomorrow so let us look at what Patanjali has to say in the last two final sutras of samadhi padar of what types of concentrations of mind can do can show to us Patanjali says the resulting impression from this samadhi obstructs all other impressions if you have been following these sessions you would know that right now Patanjali is talking about nirvichara samadhi meaning a state of mind a state of consciousness a state of samadhi where there are absolutely no thoughts so he is talking about a thoughtless mind an intelligence within a consciousness within which has a complete empty space in front of itself and has no thoughts no contents of the mind no contents of the sense perceptions to disturb that intelligence to occupy and engage that intelligence he is saying the resulting impressions from this samadhi obstructs all other impressions so when you have that empty space when you have that thoughtless space that the perception of that that the view of that the vision of that it obstructs everything else it overrules everything else once you are able to achieve that once you are able to have that truth in front of you that pure consciousness in front of you without any thoughts without any contents of the mind constantly taking you away constantly breaking your attention breaking your concentration that space is so powerful that it puts all the perceptions that you may may contain away it basically puts all the illusion back in into its place and it shows you the reality so he is here continually talking about nirvichara samadhi the importance of thoughtlessness and see how much time you give in your daily life to a space to a moment of thoughtlessness never almost never we are continually just feeding onto thoughts and circulating on thoughts all the time and he is here talking about thoughtlessness so here the encouragement is to have that space even if it is for five minutes of meditation even if it is a few seconds of meditation have those moments of thoughtlessness where the clouds clear up and you see the sky and the view of the clear sky is such that everything else falls short of that and in the last sutra of samadhi pada patanjali talks about the highest he says tasyapi nirodhe sarv nirodha nirbija samadhi by the restrain of even this impressions that obstruct all the impressions so even this truth all being restrained comes the seedless samadhi meaning he is saying that you can even transcend that now is the ultimate step this is how far one human experience can go it can go from the perception that is born out of illusion to that that clarity of reality and it can even transcend that because still there is an experience of this reality there is an experiencer who is experiencing that reality so here patanjali is really talking about the ultimate the highest that is something really really far away from where we are in our journey but it is worthwhile it is inspiring to know how far can you go and the farthest point that you can go the farthest boundary the level that you can go ever with human consciousness is to first of all have that nirvichara samadhi the thoughtless state where you have this one single perception of clarity one single clarity in front of you a view which is pure light and then you can even transcend or enter that light enter that space and leave no distinction between the experiencer and that experience you become seedless you become you reach to a state where for you life and death does not matter you come out of the circle of life and death you come out of all the bondages of life and then there is no coming back this is the ultimate this is for those who are dedicating their entire life for the practice of yoga for achieving this this height of liberation for us even if we can see those peaks from a distance even if we can inspire ourselves from the beauty of those peaks it can shine enough light on our life to put us also in the right place with that inspiration let us move into today's meditation into today's silence the method that we will use the technique that we will use is to bring all of our awareness to a third eye center the center the area between the eyebrows what we will do is we will bring all our awareness all our attention here we will concentrate we will become one pointed here and from there on we will move on to an expanded awareness a space which is the absolute please close your eyes maintain an upright posture and ensure that your breath is flowing smoothly gently in and out at its own pace and with every breath your body settles on its own weight maintaining a balance sort of a weightlessness your mind calm down allowing your awareness to move within to focus where you want to focus you mind settles bring your awareness to your third eye center to the area in between your eyebrows as you do that make sure that your face is relaxed and you're not straining yourself you're not forcing this concentration this focus and doing it as it is easy and natural for you.
What may help is to even bring your thought on your third eye center the area on your forehead in between the eyebrows you may even bring your thought to it think about it move your awareness to it feel it draw all your energy towards your third eye center.
If you're comfortable you may even slightly roll your eyes towards your third eye center.
Keeping in you pointing and becoming aware of the third eye center.
.
As your awareness stabilizes let go of the thought roll your eyes back down to normal but hold this awareness at the third eye center.
.
Feel the energy on your third eye center,
The sensations,
The pulsations.
Feel the energy on your third eye center,
The sensations,
The pulsations.
As you focus more on your third eye center,
You may see light in front of your eyes,
You may see space,
You may let your awareness slowly move towards this light,
Towards this vast space.
Letting go of the focus and moving into the vastness,
Awareness expanding into the space that is open in your vision.
Letting go of the focus and moving into the space that is open in your vision.
Don't hold yourself back.
Allow your awareness to reach as far as it can in this open,
Empty space,
This light.
In this space,
There is no thought.
In this space,
There are no contents in your consciousness.
Move fully into this space with your awareness.
Here,
You are silent.
Here,
You are in peace,
In bliss,
In your being,
In your true nature.
Maintain this state as long as you like.
Or very gently and slowly,
You may open your eyes,
Connecting back to what you see.
But with a new awareness,
With a new centeredness,
I will see you tomorrow at 7 am Central European Time.
Namaste.
