Recently when I was in my yoga class The teacher mentioned the body is always present And I thought about those words The body is always present In that moment I became aware Again of how stressful our random thoughts are on the body When we go into the past and think about something that previously happened But we're so caught up in it The body tries to be present in that and it's stressful Because it's not really happening The same thing for the future When we begin to imagine different aspects of the future Our body tries to be in that and it's not possible And it stresses the body Like just for a moment think of something in the past And notice how your body's physiology changes Notice if you have any tension If you feel like a push-pull effect And then try the same thing with the future thought Imagine a concern or a worry about the future And notice if there's tension in your body In that moment we're not present And the body is present Notice the absolute calm in the body When you're just here in this moment You can feel your heartbeat Notice your breathing The body is present And when we're present in the body We're one with the body Our bodies also feel the judgment that we have When we look through our eyes in a mirror And we see our face We can have judgments about that Maybe there's wrinkles or a scar Maybe you wish that you were more handsome or more beautiful And maybe not But in that moment you're not one with your body You're looking through your eyes into a mirror But we're separating from ourselves when we do that Close your eyes And be in your face Sense your face from the inside Can you judge it from there?
It's like when we look through our eyes at our face We then engage thought to judge the perception of what we're seeing with our eyes Be in your face Close your eyes And sense your face Notice the lack of judgment Continue throughout your body Be in your chest Be in your arms Be in your belly Be in your thighs Hips Groin Legs Feet Notice Notice the richness,
The fullness There's a movement of energy inside you when you do this Imagine walking into a room from inside your body You might notice how your clothes feel How your movement is But notice the comfort as you walk in the room No longer is it about how others see you Because you're in your body How does that feel?
And the comfort of that is exuded outside of you There's less room for judging others Less room for judging yourself And that comfort as it exudes out,
It embraces everybody else in the room as they are And not just perceiving them as they look But who are they in that body?
Who is that behind the face?
Who is that that's filling the cheekbones?
Filling the jaws and the neck and the throat The chest and the arms Who is that over there?
Who is that in here?
And what is to judge?
There's only the comfort of being present in the body The aliveness of being present in the body And when you're feeling your cheekbones,
Your arms,
Your pelvis,
Your legs,
Your feet from the inside Thought is less active Therefore judgement is less active You're just present to your body and present in your body And one with your body And one with the other bodies that are around you There's such a comfort and a joy and a peace here Relaxing into that And from that space If something from the past is triggered,
How quickly you notice where it arises in your body And you feel it's pulling you into a different space that's not present And you can realize that that's just the past It's not now,
It's not here,
It's not in the body that's present In the moment that you realize it's past,
It's not actually happening Its importance diminishes And as you fill out your face from the inside,
Your throat,
Your neck,
Your chest,
Your arms,
Your abdomen,
Your pelvis,
Your hips,
Your legs,
Your feet As you fill that out from the inside and feel the presence that's in the body And begin to notice the richness,
The movement of energy Where do you feel it at?
It's like it's building,
It's growing,
Expanding,
It's so calm The interest in being aware of what happens as you approach another being while you're present in your own body is way more interesting than what they look like,
Than what our judgments say There's so much aliveness in the present body and being present in the body way more interesting than past or future How it activates us to be present in the body when we're alone or when in a crowd How we shift out of judgment of ourselves and others when we're present in the body Breathing,
How our body feels on the inside,
How the energy shifts as you approach others,
How your clothes feel on your body Walk in the room and the power of presence and notice how the world changes around you And that change is from the inside,
From being present The body is always present.
