Wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep? Dreading another broken night, watching the clock, or finding your mind suddenly filled with thoughts? This meditation is for you if you wake during the night with racing thoughts, worry about losing sleep, replay conversations or tomorrow's tasks, or feel tired but mentally alert. Instead of forcing yourself to sleep, you will be guided to let go of thoughts, soften the body, and return to a deeper sense of safety and rest. Drawing from ancient Indian practices, this meditation combines gentle left-nostril breathing, yogic relaxation, sensory withdrawal, and mantra awareness to move from mental activity toward stillness. You do not have to solve tonight what belongs to tomorrow. Feel Mother Earth beneath you. Let the bed hold your body. Let your breath soften. “Mother Earth holds me. Tomorrow will come. Nothing more is needed from me tonight.” Release the night. Trust the morning. Let yourself be held.
