Hello,
I'm Diana and I want to welcome you to this meditation.
Perimenopause.
Cool down.
Right now.
If you're feeling irritated,
Overwhelmed,
Short-tempered,
Or simply like you've had enough of everything and everyone.
Take a moment here.
You don't have to figure anything out right now.
You don't have to be calm.
You don't even have to feel better yet.
Just give yourself these few minutes.
Find a comfortable position,
Sitting or standing wherever you are.
And if it feels comfortable,
Let your eyes soften or close.
And then,
Take a slow breath in.
And longer.
Easy.
Breath out.
And again.
Breathing in.
And gently breathing out.
There's nothing you need to force.
Just allow the out-breath to be a little longer.
Now notice your body.
Perhaps there's tension in your jaw.
Let your teeth separate slightly and let your tongue rest.
Soften your shoulders,
Even if it's just a little bit.
And notice your hands.
If you're gripping them,
Allow your fingers to loosen.
You don't have to relax completely.
Just soften by one small amount.
Now bring your attention down to your feet.
Feel the ground underneath you.
You are here.
You are safe in this moment.
And whatever has happened today.
You don't have to deal with all of it right now.
You if you're feeling angry or irritated.
You don't need to push that feeling away.
There may be a very good reason your body is asking for a pause.
Perimenopause can sometimes make everything feel closer to the surface.
The little things can suddenly feel enormous.
Your patience can disappear.
Words can come out more sharply than you intended.
And afterwards,
You may wonder,
Why did I react like that?
For now,
There's nothing wrong with you.
You're simply having a moment that needs a little more space.
Take another slow breath in.
And let it go.
And as you breathe out.
Imagine that you're giving your body permission to soften.
Your forehead.
Your jaw.
Your shoulders.
Your belly.
Your hands.
Not forcing,
Just softening.
And if there's someone you're irritated with right now.
You don't need to work out what you're going to say to them.
You don't need to resolve the situation.
You can come back to it later.
Right now,
Your only job is to come back to yourself.
Take one more comfortable breath in.
And slowly breathe out.
Feel your feet.
Feel the support beneath you.
Notice whether there's even the tiniest bit more space inside you than there was a few minutes ago.
Perhaps your shoulders have dropped.
Perhaps your breathing feels a little easier.
Or perhaps nothing much has changed.
And that's okay too.
You gave yourself a pose.
Sometimes that is enough to change what happens next.
Before you return to your day.
Take one final,
Slow breath in.
And a long,
Gentle breath out.
And remind yourself,
I don't have to react right now.
I can pause.
I can soften.
I can choose what happens next.
Take your time.
And when you feel ready,
You can gently open your eyes.
Be kind to yourself.
Till next time.
