Many times in life,
Things start to build up and we let it get the best of us.
Whether it's stress,
Work,
Family,
You name it.
We tense up,
Getting headaches and body aches,
Resulting in digestive issues,
Acting crumpy around everyone,
Or we finally realize that we need to take a break.
We just need to take a few moments to let it all go.
When my friends and loved ones begin to get upset,
I just tell them to breathe.
The simple act of focusing on your breath is often enough to soften the edge of what you're dealing with.
Other times,
You may need to add in a little visualization to help you feel calm and centered.
If you are ready to release that tension,
Then relax,
Get comfortable in a quiet area,
Either sitting up straight or lying down with your arms by your sides.
Now close your eyes and let the worries of the day go.
Notice your breath,
In and out,
Breathing deeply and slowly.
Just breathing in and out,
You are becoming more relaxed.
As you breathe and continue to relax,
See yourself out in nature,
Perhaps in an open field.
It is light and airy and the sun is shining brightly,
With a gentle breeze to keep you comfortable.
You can hear the songs of the birds flitting about,
And not too far away,
You can also hear the sound of a stream flowing gently by.
You walk slowly towards the sound of that stream,
Taking in the sights as you go.
Birds flying high in the sky,
Butterflies dancing about.
Rabbits dashing through the brush.
Wildflowers growing in the tall grass.
Maybe you see a tree in the distance.
You pause to appreciate the swaying of the grass and the gentle breeze.
As you slowly walk a little further,
You come across that stream,
Flowing through the field.
It is clean and clear,
And flowing smoothly in its banks,
Making a soft,
Rippling sound.
Near the edge of that stream,
You see a tree that has fallen down.
It looks like a perfect place to sit and relax.
As you sit on your tree seat,
You realize how calm and peaceful this place really is.
Just you,
In nature,
Enjoying the sounds of the stream.
You are watching the waters flow by,
As the current washes over you,
So you feel somewhat weightless,
Clear headed,
Calm.
And relaxed.
Just being here,
By the side of the stream,
You are becoming more and more relaxed.
You feel yourself becoming one with the stream,
With nature,
With the world.
Your mind and body relax even more.
You can feel the relaxation move into your muscles.
Your mind is clear and simply observing nature,
And a warm glow starts to fill your entire being.
This is a sensation of peace and relaxation.
And this sensation feels amazing.
Maybe it's been a while since you have felt this calm and at peace.
Enjoy this sensation and all the bliss that comes with it.
You can now have this feeling of relaxation and serenity anytime you want it.
All you have to do is recall the image of sitting on this tree,
By the side of this peaceful stream,
Flowing through the open field.
Wherever you are,
Just remember the image of this stream,
And relaxation will come back to you,
Just as it is here.
