Do you ever struggle with the inability to focus?

It could be the fact that it's a nice day outside and you'd rather be at the beach than at your desk.

Or it could be that you have a constant flow of thoughts going through your mind and you're unable to focus on any one of them long enough to get anything truly accomplished.

Either way,

You know that if you could just hone in on one task or idea,

You could easily complete it and move on to something else.

Perhaps you need to take a few minutes,

Quiet your mind,

And let go of all those other thoughts.

So if you are ready,

Relax,

Get comfortable in a quiet area,

Either sitting up straight or lying down with your arms by your sides.

Now close your eyes and let the worries of the day go.

Notice your breath in and out,

Breathing deeply and slowly.

Just breathing in and out.

You are becoming more relaxed.

As you breathe and continue to relax,

See yourself in a bright,

Beautiful forest.

It's light and airy and the sun is shining brightly through the trees.

You can hear the sounds of the small woodland creatures,

The song of the birds,

The squirrels running through the brush,

And if you listen closely,

You may even hear the flapping wings of a dragonfly or a butterfly.

As you gaze around the forest,

You are amazed by the colors,

The browns of the tree bark and the rich soil,

The green of the leaves and the moss,

The brightly colored wildflowers,

Even the clear blue of the sky and the bright whiteness of the clouds.

You can also smell the amazing scents of the forest.

You first notice the freshness of the air,

So crisp and clean.

Then you notice the earthy aroma of the rich woodland soil.

You catch the bouquet of the wildflowers and it all blends together for a clean,

Natural smell that can only be found in among the trees.

While you are visualizing your forest retreat,

You are incredibly focused on each and every detail.

You remain focused long enough to create a forest scene in your mind,

Focused on each element,

Paying attention to enough detail to create the scene.

You are able to concentrate on one subject.

Now you can apply the same level of focus to any task when you are working on anything.

It could be simple or complex.

You have the ability to focus and concentrate as you need in order to live happily and productive.

If at any time you lose focus,

Take a moment to think back to this forest image and how you created a forest in your mind.

Use that same level of concentration,

Just recalling the image of the forest or perhaps keeping a photo of a forest nearby and seeing that image will trigger your mind to stay focused on your task at hand.

Another tool you have is to simply pay attention to your breathing,

In and out.

This action draws your attention to a focal point,

Which enhances your ability to concentrate.

Now you can take these tools with you today,

Your forest and your breath,

To remind you that you now have this enhanced ability to focus any time you want.

Continue to hold that image in your mind for another minute while you enjoy this music.

Again,

Close your eyes on some details and feel this wonderful take.
