Hello,
Beautiful humans.
My name is Darius,
And in this video,
We are talking about people-pleasing,
Specifically how to stop people-pleasing.
I'm going to share with you a practice I probably use 10 times a day.
I'm going to share with you a practice that when I was introduced to,
Shout out Jessica Amos,
Who introduced me to this practice,
I immediately stopped and I said,
That's good and everybody I share it with says the same thing.
It's so simple.
And so memorable and so effective.
Here it is.
Ready?
Care,
But don't carry.
Care but don't carry.
It's a simple affirmation that reminds us,
That activates us,
That awakens us to the paradigm that we are allowed to keep our hearts open.
We are allowed to be kind,
Considerate humans.
I care for you.
I care for you,
Mom.
I care for you,
Dad.
I care for you,
Wife.
I care for you,
My beautiful children.
I don't need to carry your stuff.
Because speaking from very personal experience,
One of the challenges of being a people pleaser besides the obvious,
Which is giving and giving and giving and over giving and betraying yourself and leaving yourself and Just exhausting yourself.
Everyone knows that side of it.
The other side is the response to that,
Which is I'm going to shut down.
I'm going to close myself off.
I don't want to be in relationship with anybody.
I don't want to do these events anymore.
I don't want to do this project anymore.
I don't want to anything and we shut down.
And that can't be the solution.
Shutting down can't be it.
So this is a beautiful,
Simple,
Accessible,
Effective practice to remind you that you can live with your heart open.
You can care.
But you refuse to carry other people's stuff.
It takes practice.
It's not just saying the affirmation.
It's a reminder of who you are.
I'm here with you.
I hear you're going through this problem.
But do I need to solve it for you?
Do I need to give up?
My schedule and my energy.
To carry your stuff?
Or can I just be here with you,
Care for you,
And hold my energy sacred and solid?
Care,
But not carry.
Try it out,
Let me know how it goes.
My name is Darius,
And I'll see you next time.
Bye.
