Hello beautiful humans,
My name is Darius and this is a practice to help you awaken the writer within.
The writer that lives inside you.
The writer that lives inside your heart.
Now maybe you refuse to believe there is a writer that lives inside you.
If that is you,
You definitely want to watch this video and participate in this practice.
Or maybe you know you've experienced a writer self.
Maybe there was a period in your life that you were journaling,
You were writing,
You were blogging,
You were substacking,
And you've fallen off of that and you like a little jumpstart.
Okay,
So I'm gonna tell you a little story.
I'm going to guide you through a short little practice and then I'm going to share a writing exercise to help you integrate and connect to that writer within.
Use a story.
There are few things in this world.
I love more than summer.
Summer is one of my all-time favorite things,
Maybe you can relate.
I live in Toronto,
I've grown up in Toronto,
So we really appreciate summer when it shows up after a long winter.
And It's occurred to me.
That nobody knows.
Now we're about to get deep,
Okay?
So if you are not interested in going deep,
If you are not resourced or in a place where you want to go deep,
You probably want to stop this video here.
But if you are what I call a super feely,
If you.
.
.
Want to explore.
The capabilities of your heart.
Keep listening.
It occurred to me.
That nobody Nobody knows.
How many summers they get.
And that very simple,
Very obvious.
FACT!
Sort of white.
Blew my mind.
Nobody knows.
How many summers they get.
Nobody knows how many summers they get.
You don't.
No.
When your last summer is here.
And so for some people that might sound morbid and depressing.
But I've had this conversation with enough people to know for some people that is.
Awakening.
Wow!
Nobody knows how many summers they get.
And so this is a thought experiment.
It's too much for you,
Like I said.
Next video,
The good tribe,
But this isn't for me and for some of you,
This will awaken something in you.
As a thought experiment,
I want you to imagine.
This is your last summer on planet Earth.
And I want you.
.
.
To imagine.
That you have an opportunity to write someone A letter,
A letter of love,
A love letter,
A summer letter.
Love letter.
It could be anyone.
It could be one sentence.
There's no rules.
We're just playing and experimenting and exploring here.
And so.
.
.
Play with me.
If it's available to you,
Close your eyes for a moment.
Let's get still together.
Let's take a few breaths together.
We were just in our headspace,
So let's just take a moment.
To slow down and come into our heart space.
I want you to think about someone you care about dearly.
Be anyone.
Maybe two or three people come to mine and one floats a little higher to the surface.
Don't overthink it.
Pick that person,
See their face.
For me,
For whatever reason,
It's my son.
He is 11 months and he's very present in my heart space right now.
Okay.
So we're gonna hold the energy of that person.
We're gonna see their face.
We're gonna see them smiling.
We're going to hear them laughing.
Mmm.
And if you're ready for the next level.
We are going to start to imagine what we would want to tell this person.
My son's name is Tao and I would start with Dear Tao.
I can feel myself getting so emotional.
And so slowly you're gonna open your eyes and we're gonna come back,
Come back,
Come back,
Come back,
Come back.
Deep breath,
Returning back to our practice,
Our video here.
So once we've got our person.
I'm going to read the journal prompt.
Now I'm going to do my best to include this journal prompt.
In the description below,
But sometimes we're limited in how much we can share,
So I'm going to read it out to you.
Here it is.
Pick one human you care for deeply.
Write them a letter as if this were your last summer on earth.
What would you want them to know before you go?
You might tell them what you love and admire about them.
What they have meant to your life,
A memory you have never told.
You never want them to forget.
You might tell them what you hope they remember about themselves,
What you hope they do with their one wild and precious life.
Or anything you have struggled to say out loud thus far.
Okay,
So my example here.
Deer tail.
If this were my last summer on earth.
Before I go,
There are a few things I really want you to know.
You don't need to make it beautiful.
You don't need to make it anything.
Let yourself be surprised it could be one sentence.
Just do your best to be honest.
Take a moment to feel first,
Connect,
Breathe.
Connect with that person,
Find a pen.
Find the paper.
Start with deer,
Their name.
And write them a letter,
Write them a letter of love,
Write them a summer love letter from your heart to theirs.
Because no one.
Knows when our last summer is here.
We don't know.
So we're exploring and experimenting beforehand and letting our heart guide us.
Say what's true and what's real and what it wants to share.
Thank you for joining me for this practice.
I feel a little nervous because.
.
.
Maybe possibly that's a bit too emotional i'm trying something a little different with these videos i've made six or seven so far and my heart had a deep desire to try something different,
Go a little deeper and see how it's received.
Either way,
Thank you for your time,
Your patience.
Your love.
My name is Darius and I will see you next time.
