I'm gonna start this meditation.
In a manner.
That you almost never start a meditation.
I'm going to start our meditation today by telling you a story about Jim Carrey.
Jim Carrey is a legendary comedian and actor.
And I want to tell you a story about Jim Carrey before he had his breakthrough.
Jim was doing stand-up comedy.
In Hollywood.
And somehow,
Someway,
He discovered that if he was willing to step into his fear,
His fear.
Would get him.
To his freedom.
What I mean is,
For one week,
Jim Carrey did stand-up comedy.
With the intention to get booed off stage.
Most people would agree.
Getting booed off stage.
Is a nightmare for comedians.
He decided,
Instead of running away from this fear,
You is gonna do something.
Preposterous.
He was gonna run straight into it.
Just to see what happens.
For 7 days.
He went on that stage.
And for seven days,
He got booed off the stage.
Preposterous.
What happens?
When we step in.
To the thing we are afraid of.
Welcome to our meditation today.
My name is Darius.
And I am so excited to go on this journey with you.
Let's begin.
By closing our eyes and going inwards.
The invitation with our practice today is very clear.
Do something preposterous today.
Take a few deep breaths.
Take that invitation in or throw it away and say,
You're nuts Darius,
No way.
You choose.
Do something preposterous today.
Remind yourself.
That you are a creation.
Remind yourself.
That you are the creator.
What if.
.
.
We don't find ourselves,
But rather.
.
.
We create ourselves.
Sometimes.
We create.
A prison around ourselves.
Of who we are.
Of how we act,
Of what we do and don't do.
And nobody is telling you to break your principles or your values.
Nobody is telling you to be malicious or mean.
The Invitation.
Is to do something preposterous today.
You don't even need to know what it is yet.
You don't even need to commit to doing something preposterous yet.
If there is a teeny tiny opening inside you that's curious and interested.
What's available.
When you step closer to your fear.
When you step closer to that thing in which you are afraid.
Take a deep breath here,
Together,
Breathing in.
Hold at the top of your breath.
Keep holding,
Keep holding.
Big exhale out.
Just giving yourself space.
Space to be here.
Space to be there.
Space.
Life is so full of doing and becoming.
Just be for a moment right here.
Let's do the scariest thing in modern society.
Just stand still and be here.
Oh me oh my.
That was.
.
.
Delicious.
Space to do nothing.
To go wherever we want to go.
Space to do nothing,
To go wherever we want to go.
Do something preposterous.
Today,
Do something preposterous this week.
Remind yourself that you are a creation.
Remind yourself that you are the creator.
Remind yourself that you are the creator.
What would happen this week.
If you broke a few of your own rules.
There's a very specific way I start these meditations,
And it's never with a story about Jim Carrey.
There are very specific ways.
I write.
I journal.
What if today I shook things up?
I put things on their heads.
I flipped the script.
What if today I give myself permission to do something preposterous?
Maybe you start slow.
Maybe you have no interest in starting slow and you're the type of person that's ready to jump off the deep end.
Do you get it yet?
Do you get it?
It's all just a big game.
It's all just a big game.
Jim Carrey got it,
And he broke through.
It's all just an illusion.
That thing in which you are afraid of.
What if it was the pathway to your liberation and freedom?
It's all just a big game.
Do.
Something.
Preposterous today.
This is our last song.
I want to leave you with one more note.
You dear one.
Are not a helpless kitten.
You are not a helpless kitten.
You have lion-sized dreams inside your heart.
You know it,
As I said those words you felt it.
Do something preposterous today.
Bravo,
Dear artists.
Bravo,
Dear creators.
We made it to the end of another meditation and I have an absolutely ridiculous smile on my face right now.
Thank you for joining me.
I say thank you for joining me because if you're still listening to my words,
My voice,
You didn't quit.
You didn't sign off.
You didn't close this tab.
There's something in you that is perhaps hungry for the next creation of you.
For those that are joining us live at the yard this morning,
I'm gonna put.
.
.
20 minutes on the clock.
And share an optional writing prompt to help us continue this exploration.
And of course,
If you're catching us on a replay,
Perhaps on insight timer,
You can do the same.
Thanks for meditating with me.
My name is Darius,
And I will see you next time.
