Hello beautiful humans,
My name is Darius,
And I've got some bad news for you,
But I've got some good news too.
The bad news is.
.
.
Perfectionism is the number one killer of your creative ideas,
Number one killer of your creative projects,
Number one killer of your dreams.
Number two.
Perfectionism is sneaky.
It's sneaky.
You might be like,
No,
No,
No,
No.
I'm not trying to make this project perfect.
That's not what I'm trying to do at all.
But it sneaks in through the back door.
There's three words that if you are saying these words,
Pay attention.
There's a good chance perfectionism has come into your life and is dressed in disguise and is stealing your creative energy.
Okay,
Here are the words.
Ready?
Number one.
If you say things like fully,
Specifically you say,
I'm trying to create this thing so that I could be full.
I want people to fully understand me.
And here's the remedy.
Nobody will ever fully understand you.
Nobody will ever fully understand you.
You know why?
Because you don't fully understand you.
You don't fully understand you because you are not complete.
Fully entails complete.
And you are not complete.
You are a work in progress just like me.
We have life to live.
So it's okay that no one fully understands you.
And if you say that word,
Pay attention because you might be leaking energy towards perfectionism.
Let go of being fully understood and Create and express and let the world see where you're at today.
Number two.
You say words like,
I just want to get it right.
I just,
I'm just,
I just want this to be right.
I want to get it right.
If no one's told you this.
.
.
You,
My dear.
Have permission to get it wrong.
You have permission to fail.
In fact,
Making mistakes,
Getting it wrong,
Failing is essential to creative evolution,
To intellectual expansion,
To your soul's growth.
Failure is feedback,
Failure is fuel,
Failure is a superpower because it has key pieces of information that are needed for your journey.
You have permission to get it wrong and make mistakes.
Number three.
Ready.
If you say things like.
.
.
I'm just waiting till I feel ready.
I'm waiting till I feel ready to do the thing I always wanted to do.
Whatever the thing is,
If it's writing a book,
Starting a sub stack,
Making meditations,
Doing some cool things on social media.
I'm waiting till I feel ready.
Ready is not a feeling.
Ready is a decision we make.
Ready is a decision we make,
So if you're waiting for the moment where you feel ready,
It's now.
Not gonna show up.
We jump in before we feel ready and we start doing things and we learn through the process,
Through action.
And that jumping in and trying and giving ourselves permission to fail giving ourselves permission not to be fully understood yet because we don't fully understand ourselves yet.
Is the way we get to the place that we call ready.
So pay attention if you use these.
Three words.
And then zoom out and see if those three words are actually perfectionism in disguise.
I hope this video has helped give you something to think about and also a couple of small simple practices to help you get on the other side of perfectionism because the world needs your gifts,
The world needs your light,
The world needs your joy.
Thanks for listening,
My name's Darius,
And I'll see you next time.
