While pop culture has come to define the signs in limited and superficial ways,
The signs are actually archetypes,
With both deeper and evolving meaning.
As one of my teachers says,
Anyone who speaks the language of astrology can influence it.
And after hearing this talk,
You will be well on your way.
There is no need for previous experience of astrology to benefit from this talk.
First I'm going to share with you the four elements,
Fire,
Water,
Earth,
And air,
And the three modes,
Cardinal,
Fixed,
And mutable,
Which combine to produce the 12 signs.
Then I'll explain the personalities of each sign.
I'll give you time to reflect and create your own definitions for each sign,
Based on your intuition and lived experiences.
The four elements are fire,
Earth,
Air,
And water.
Fire is creative and energetic.
Earth is practical and tangible.
Air is mental and social.
And water is emotional and nurturing.
The modes are cardinal,
Fixed,
And mutable.
Cardinal represents the beginning of a season and takes initiative.
Fixed represents the middle of a season and sustains.
And mutable represents the end of a season and evolves.
Each of the 12 signs represents a combination of an element and a mode,
And no two are the same.
So if we do the math,
Three modes,
Four elements equals 12 signs.
I'll share keywords for each sign,
But once you know the origins of each archetype,
You can begin to construct your own keywords that reflect your reality.
According to our birth charts,
All of us have every sign in us,
And it's just a matter of emphasis.
Now let's explore the signs.
First off,
Aries is cardinal fire,
So it's energetic and takes initiative.

The planet of action.

And a teacher.

Next up is cancer.
Cancer is cardinal water,
So it's nurturing and takes initiative.

Which is the luminary of emotions.
And Cancer is thought of as a homemaker,
A therapist,

Leo is a fixed fire sign.
Leo is sustaining and creative.
And its ruling planet is the sun.
And the sun is the luminary of identity and vitality.
Leo is the entertainer,
The philanthropist,
And the speaker.
And the motivation of Leo is to celebrate.

Virgo is mutable earth.
So Virgo is evolving and practical.

It's initiating and social.

And the goal of Libra is to find balance.

It's sustaining and emotional.
The ruling planet is Pluto,

Scorpio is an alchemist,
A detective,
And a psychic.
And the goal of Scorpio is to know truth.

Sagittarius is mutable fire.
