Grounding Meditation with Adi Mudra This simple,

Gentle meditation utilises visualisation and the breath and the beautiful Adi Mudra to bring a grounding,

A sense of calm,

A sense of presence to the mind,

The body,

To the spirit.

Adi Mudra is a very simple and instinctive mudra that involves turning the thumbs into the centre of each palm and wrapping the fingers over the thumbs into gentle fists.

Once the mudra is assumed,

You can place your hands gently within the mudra on the knees or the legs.

This practice is best experienced seated in an upright position.

So take a moment first to adjust your meditation posture.

Ensure that your spine is upright and stable and supported.

Move the body if you need to,

To establish a lovely symmetrical placement of the hip bones,

The hip bones,

The legs and the feet connected with the floor beneath the knees.

Shoulders down and back,

Back of neck long and crown tall.

And just have your hands resting gently without the mudra to begin with.

Closing the eyes.

Take a moment to observe the state that your general system is in before entering the practice.

Notice the quality of your natural breath.

Scan your body from the top of your head slowly all the way down the face,

The head,

The neck,

Chest,

Belly,

Arms and hands,

Base and legs and feet.

And acknowledge any areas where you're feeling tension or tightness.

These will become your benchmark at the conclusion of the practice.

And now our grounding meditation will begin.

Allow your awareness behind closed eyes to perceive the environment that surrounds you.

You may be outside or you may be in your meditation space.

Wherever you are within your psychic awareness,

Extend outwards to the perimeter of the space that you're occupying now.

Dance into the structure,

The objects,

The movement,

The energy field of the atmosphere that surrounds you.

Now drawing your awareness in to your body seated in meditation posture.

Feel the contact points between your body and the body support.

Feel all of those touch points at the underside of the body all at once.

Receive the stability and the strength of your body support like it's a gift.

Bring in even further now,

Come to the movement of the breath.

By simply putting your awareness on the movement of the breath,

The breath will ease,

Deepen and lengthen.

Simply notice the sensation of the breath for the next five breaths as the air moves in and out of your body.

And now gently assume Adibudra,

Folding the thumbs into the palms of each hand and gently wrapping the fingers around the thumbs in a gentle fist,

A firm not tight hold.

And then turn the hands facing down and place them on the legs,

The knees,

Shoulders down and back and ensure the spine remains upright.

And take a moment to allow the mudra to connect its circuitry with your energy body.

A beautiful gentle drawing down.

I want you now to work with the energy circuitry of Adimudra and follow your exhalations as they move down and out from the body.

Breathing in fresh,

Beautiful,

Clean air and prana.

And now exhaling,

Following the exhalation down through the body,

All the way to the feet.

With every breath,

Following the downward motion of the exhalation all the way down to the feet and continue in this way,

Breathing your body down,

Breathing your system towards the immense planet beneath you.

Once you start feeling the beautiful calming shifts of Adimudra,

Follow your next exhalation all the way down to the soles of the feet.

Beginning now as you're breathing gently and holding Adimudra,

That roots are starting to extend from the soles of the feet,

Growing down into the sweet,

Dark earth beneath you.

Through any flooring,

Any building,

Any structure.

These beautiful extensions of your energy body now seeking,

Growing,

Reaching down into the sweet,

Dark earth.

And now as you exhale,

Follow the exhalation all the way down the physical body through the root system,

Extending from the soles of the feet into the immense heart of the earth beneath you.

With every breath,

You're feeling grounded,

Stable,

Safe.

With every breath,

You arrive.

With every breath,

Open your energy system to the immense presence of the planet beneath you.

The planet too is breathing.

With every breath,

Open your energy system to the immense presence of the planet beneath you.

The light to carry you deeper.

The light to carry you deeper.

The light to carry you deeper.

The light to carry you deeper.

The light to carry you deeper.

The light to carry you deeper.

And bringing your awareness gently back to your physical body,

Notice the sensations of the physical body,

The skin,

The hands,

The breath.

You can release Adimutra and allow the hands to rest softly on the knees.

And take a moment to notice how you feel.

Notice the deepening and softening of the natural breath.

Revisit the areas of the body that may have been holding some tension before you started.

Notice the activity of your mental field.

Has it calmed?

Is there more spaciousness there?

Start to take deeper,

More deliberate breaths now through the nose and out through the mouth.

Bringing yourself back into presence,

Back into the interface with the space and with the time that you're in.

And our practice of grounding meditation with Adimudra is now complete.

Thank you.
