Deep sleep healing.
Let your body repair while you rest.
There is something I want you to understand before you fall asleep tonight.
Your body is about to do things you could never consciously do.
You don't have to tell your heart how to beat.
You don't have to tell yourselves what to do.
You don't have to consciously organize everything happening inside your body right now.
And you certainly don't have to manage your sleep.
In fact,
The more you try to sleep,
The harder sleep often becomes.
So tonight we're going to do something different.
We're going to stop trying.
Get comfortable.
Move around until you actually are comfortable.
And I don't want you to be in a meditation comfortable state.
Just comfortable.
Pull the blanket higher if you want to.
Turn onto your side.
Put a pillow between your knees.
Whatever your body is asking for.
And then close your eyes.
Now notice something incredibly simple.
Your body is already breathing.
And before I mentioned your breath,
It was happening.
Before you press play,
It was happening.
While you were thinking about tomorrow,
It was happening.
Your body didn't wait for permission.
And I want you to become curious about that.
Because there are thousands of processes happening inside you right now that don't require your attention.
So what would happen if for the next few hours you stopped interfering?
Don't change your breath,
Actually see if you can catch the exact moment when your body decides to inhale.
Wage warrants.
And again.
Notice how strange that is.
You aren't really doing it.
It happens.
Your body knows.
And that's the relationship I want you to have with sleep tonight.
You don't make sleep happen.
So let yourself become unavailable to wakefulness.
Start with your eyes and notice how unnecessary they are right now.
There's nothing left to see.
So let them be completely off duty.
And now your jaw.
You don't need it either.
There's nothing left to say tonight.
Let your tongue drop away from the roof of your mouth.
And your shoulders that you don't need to carry tomorrow while you're laying in bed tonight.
Notice if they are still trying to.
And if they are,
Interesting,
Don't fight them,
Just notice.
Your body has probably spent years becoming very good at holding things without asking you first.
Holding your posture,
Holding tension.
Holding your stomach in.
Holding your breath during stress.
Holding back tears.
Holding yourself back.
Holding on.
So we're not going to demand that it suddenly let go.
We're going to show it that right now,
Holding on isn't necessary.
Feel where your body touches the mattress.
There's physical evidence underneath you that you don't need to support your own weight right now.
So give the mattress another 5%.
Your head,
Your shoulders,
Your pelvis,
Your legs,
5% more.
And again.
That's enough.
Something changes when the day ends.
During the day,
So much of your energy is pointed outward.
People,
Screens,
Decisions,
Noise.
Movement,
Problems,
Food.
Conversations,
Notifications.
Expectations.
But eventually,
The external world becomes less important.
Your eyes closed.
Movement decreases.
Input decreases.
And your attention begins moving inward.
And this is where I want you tonight.
We're not trying to heal.
We're not checking whether anything is working.
You're just becoming quiet enough to stop constantly interrupting your body's own processes.
Think about how much you ask from this body.
Wake up.
Go.
Perform.
Think.
Digest.
Train.
Work.
Respond.
Remember.
Regulate.
Keep going.
And then sometimes we lie in bed frustrated because the same body doesn't switch off within 30 seconds.
And tonight we're going to change that relationship.
Instead of demanding sleep from your body,
You're going to give it the conditions for sleep.
Darkness.
Stillness.
Slower breathing.
Less input.
No decisions.
No performance.
Nobody is grading this meditation.
You can disappear into it.
Bring your attention inside your chest.
Your heart has been beating since before you had a name.
Think about that before you knew what success was.
Before you knew what stress was.
Before you had goals.
Before you knew how to worry about your future.
This rhythm was already there.
Feel it if you can.
And if you can't,
That's fine.
You don't need to feel something for it to be happening.
That's important.
Because tonight you don't need to feel yourself recovering for recovery to occur.
You don't need to visualize every cell.
You don't need to believe hard enough.
You don't need to manifest sleep.
Your job is much simpler.
Stop asking your conscious mind to run the night shift.
Imagine clocking out.
That's it.
Your shift is over.
The thinking part of you has done enough.
He doesn't need to solve your life at 11.
47 at night.
Tomorrow's conversation can happen tomorrow.
The thing that you should have said?
Not tonight.
The decisions you haven't made,
Not tonight.
The person you're trying to understand?
Definitely not tonight.
Your body doesn't need the answer to any of those questions in order to sleep.
And every time your mind brings something back.
You can answer with two words.
Tomorrow morning.
What if this happens tomorrow morning?
What should I do about that?
Tomorrow morning.
That I remember to.
Tomorrow morning.
You're not avoiding your life,
You're refusing to live tomorrow before it arrives.
And now,
This is where I want you to get curious.
Your eyes are closed,
You're lying down,
You're safe and bat,
But somewhere in your body,
There may still be a part that hasn't received the message.
Find it.
Where does your day still live in your body?
Maybe there's pressure behind your forehead,
Something in your jaw,
A tightness underneath your ribs,
A restless feeling in your legs.
Something saddling inside your stomach.
Don't name it anxiety and don't call it stress.
Don't diagnose it.
Strip away the story.
What does it physically feel like?
Pressure?
Heat?
Movement?
Tightness?
Buzzing?
Weight?
Or nothing?
The story about the sensation usually belongs to the past or future and we are interested in now.
Notice its edges.
Does it have an edge?
Does it move?
Is it pulse?
Does it change when you breathe?
Don't get rid of it,
That's the interesting part.
The moment you stop demanding that a sensation disappear,
Your relationship with it changes.
So let it exist.
Your body is allowed to feel something and still fall asleep.
And quietly tell that part of you.
You can stand down now.
Not forever,
Just for tonight.
See what happens.
Now imagine your conscious mind slowly becoming less involved.
Like last employee leaving a building at night.
Lights switching off.
Computers go dark.
Doors closing.
Until the building becomes quiet.
Behind the scenes,
Systems continue running and your body is similar.
Sleep isn't nothing,
You're not shutting your body down,
You're changing modes.
While you sleep,
Your body continues regulating,
Processing,
Maintaining and restoring.
Your brain doesn't simply stop because consciousness fades.
Your body doesn't stop working because you're no longer paying attention.
Quite the opposite.
So tonight,
Instead of thinking of sleep as the end of your day,
Think of it as the beginning of your body's night shift.
And you're not invited to supervise.
That's the best part,
You can leave.
Let your awareness become less precise now.
You don't need to follow every sentence.
Actually,
Start losing me.
Let some words pass without understanding them.
Let yourself forget what I said ten seconds ago.
And that's exactly where we're going.
The border between one thought and another can become blurry.
Your body feels different than it did when you pressed play.
Heavier,
Perhaps.
Warmer.
Are simply less important.
And somewhere underneath conscious awareness.
Your body continues.
Heart beating.
Breathing.
Digesting.
Regulating.
Doing what bodies do.
Without applause.
Without instruction.
Without you checking.
And I want to remove one more pressure before you sleep.
You don't need to heal yourself tonight.
There's no test waiting for you tomorrow morning.
You don't need to wake up transformed.
You don't need to sleep perfectly.
You don't need 8 flawless hours.
Because turning healing into another thing you have to achieve is still pressure.
So remove the goal.
Tonight isn't about becoming better.
Tonight is about giving your system fewer things to respond to.
No emails,
No conversations,
No decisions,
No screams,
No proving,
No performing,
No No becoming,
Just the biological simplicity of being asleep.
Maybe that's what your body has been asking for.
Another thing to do.
Less.
Less stimulation.
Less control.
Less monitoring.
Less expectation.
Until there is enough space for sleep to happen by itself.
And before you disappear completely,
Imagine tomorrow morning for just a moment.
The first few seconds after you wake,
Your eyes still closed,
Morning light somewhere outside.
And you notice your body.
You don't immediately reach for yesterday.
You don't immediately search for a problem.
You don't immediately ask yourself how you feel.
You notice that I am here,
A new day,
A body that carried you through another night and maybe tomorrow you treat it slightly differently.
Maybe you listen before you're demanding.
Maybe you notice before judging.
Maybe you stop speaking to your body like it's a machine that's failing you and begin treating it like the living system it is.
But that's tomorrow.
We're not there yet.
Right now,
The only direction is deeper.
Your breathing is happening without you.
Your heart is beating without you.
The bad is beneath you.
Eyes have nothing left to look at.
Your hands have nothing left to hold.
Your mind has nothing it needs to solve.
And your body has the entire night ahead of it.
So let yourself become less involved.
You don't need to hear the ending.
You don't need to remember this meditation.
You don't need to know the exact moment you fall asleep.
Fact you never do,
One moment you're here,
The next you're gone.
And that you're not.
So maybe this is the last thing to hear.
Or maybe it's the next one.
It doesn't matter.
Your shift is over.
Let the body take the night from here.
