While inner darkness and personal struggle have involuntarily slowed us down, may we dedicate this time to lean into this newfound sensitivity. Let us metaphorically open our nostrils, and smell the fragrant roses we would've otherwise missed. It is here our senses heighten, and our capacity expands. It is a rebirth of ourselves that becomes holy when we step back and see the "big picture" in the process that is taking place. In our inner darkness, we often transcend logic, which is where poetry and meditation can offer support more directly tailored to the uncomfortable mystery that is taking place. Lean into the deep ocean of feeling and sensing. Embrace your heightened and raw sensitivity. Allow the right brain (our creative, emotional, and intuitive side) to lead us into unearthing the holiness of our inner darkness.

Hi and welcome.

So this meditation today,

We will begin with the poem,

Holy Burying.

So you can lie down or sit down somewhere comfortable.

Allow it to wash through you.

And then I will guide you into an immersive meditation to experience this essence and the beauty of it.

So take a deep breath in wherever you are and exhale out an audible sigh.

Often we want darkness to end.

We pray for hard times to ease.

We pray to learn quickly and let what must die,

Die fast.

Buried deep in the musty soil,

Compacted by the hands of our own personal weaknesses,

We are pressed into the underbelly of human potential.

We are seedlings of self-realization and self-reclamation,

Gestating beneath the surface our growth,

Remains undetected.

We wonder silently,

Is this some form of punishment?

But it is here our senses become heightened.

Listening for truth,

Skin electrifies,

Ears dilate,

Our senses hypersensitive in a primal scouring for love.

Even in numb and muddy limbo,

Even in concrete dense,

Colorless suffering,

Our preservation instinct persists,

Not the one for self,

But for love.

Pregnant with our own potential,

We are buried within ourselves for a second birth.

A death-defying human feature,

An intuitive and wordless hope that we cannot kill,

Animates ourselves no matter how many times what we know ourselves as has come to die.

Here in the rubble of shredded ego sits radiant peace,

Untouched,

Unscathed,

All along knowing that your truth can never be threatened.

This darkness she purifies,

As much as she is bitter,

She is an initiation.

The one promise she makes,

The one promise she makes,

Even if you bury yourself deeper,

Suffocate in possibilities,

Die many more times,

You will emerge onto the surface and see every color of love.

When your newly found senses read between the fractal grips of fleshy reality and drink in secreted miracles,

There will be no mistake for this suffering,

Simply because the rains of grief taught you how to listen for sunlight.

You learned how to track the footprints of your inner wisdom because of the way they glow in the darkness.

With darkness,

She brings light,

The great purge,

A holy burying.

Wherever you are,

Whatever body position you are in,

Bury yourself into complete stillness,

Only your breath moving through you,

Your eyes shut,

Your focus drawn into deep,

Deep within you.

Resting here until your senses become heightened,

The breath becomes so loud,

So intense as the rest of you is still,

Focused,

And watching,

Incredibly observant.

Let yourself dissolve into this stillness,

As your attention moves inwards and away from anything external.

Let yourself be nourished in this withdrawal of the senses,

Pratyahara,

Withdrawal of the senses.

Sense the aura around you,

Almost as if you are walking on eggshells in your presence,

So slowly and carefully navigating,

The subtle becomes incredibly apparent,

Your entire energy field,

Aware of any motion throughout it.

And here,

With this heightened clarity,

Oh so steady and slow,

Savoring,

Bring one hand intentionally to hover just in front of the heart space,

Not touching skin,

But resting in the energy.

Feel the hand move throughout your aura,

The purifying,

Sensitive ripple of energy that just the movement of your hand brings throughout your entire energy field.

Explore how to tune into your energy and your sensations deeper.

Move your hand from the area in front of your heart space,

Slowly up towards the crown of your head,

As if with your movement,

You are clearing away anything that has been stored in your heart,

Up and out.

Explore how to tune into your energy and your sensations deeper.

Let the embodiment of compassionate presence guide your hands to clear,

Energize,

Bring comfort to,

Or simply awaken the sensations within your energetic body.

Let your senses remain heightened,

And your hands providing stark contrast to the rest of you that is so still,

So sensitive to each movement.

Your energy responds to your touch,

And dedicating these last few moments to bring this practice to a close.

Let your hands come back to rest in your lap,

Resting in meditation,

In observation of the wake of your movement,

Like resting in the stillness after dancing,

Resting in the morning right when waking up,

The in-between state,

Digesting and savoring,

No need to rush from one state to the other,

Letting yourself ground into this moment,

Feel where you make contact with what is beneath you,

And see if you can breathe in a way so that your body extends into the surface beneath you with each unrestricted breath you take.

Great.

So as you can see,

This time of slowing down and heightened sensitivity has brought so much clarity and sensitivity.

It can be mirrored back to us in the same way that the intensity,

Darkness,

Or challenges in our life increases our sensitivity to joy,

Gratitude,

And bliss.

It expands our capacity for light.

Thank you for joining me today in this meditation on the holy darkness.

This resonated with me completely - and I loved using the energy to heal myself with my own hands. Just beautiful and perfect timing. Thank you. There's no light without darkness. 🌑🙏🌞 xx

Very beautiful poetry. It is articulate and vivid. Your words are carefully chosen and expansive. They help to create a space to go very deep. I appreciate the part of using the hands and then the opportunity for stillness and quiet at the end was the perfect combination of guided and non-guided meditation.
