Begin this practice in a position that is comfortable for you.
This can be sitting or lying down.
Light a candle in honor of a deity,
Someone in need,
Or yourself.
Do so prayerfully and mindfully.
Now,
Close the eyes or allow the gaze to simply soften.
Bring your awareness to the breath as you allow the jaw and shoulders to soften.
Relax the neck.
Release any tension your body might be storing.
Your awareness is on the breath,
The natural and effortless flow of the breath as you simply allow yourself to be here and in this present moment.
Releasing any effort it has taken to bring you here and to this present moment.
Releasing any expectations of how the remainder of the day should unfold and giving yourself the gift of this moment and this time.
As you do so,
See,
Sense,
And feel a brilliant white light coming into the body through the root chakra and traveling up as it reaches for the crown chakra.
This light surrounds you,
Forming a barrier between you and anything that does not contribute to or support your highest good.
In your mind's eye,
Also see this bright light forming a pentacle above you.
As I walk in the steps of those who came before me,
I pause now to honor the ancestors of this land.
By the mingling of our footsteps,
You teach me tradition,
Community,
And connection.
May I always be mindful of and thankful for your gifts and teachings as I realize that my actions now will one day become teachings and gifts to those yet to come.
Hail to the height of the day,
Energies of sun and earth.
Blessed be that which energizes yet grounds me.
Blessed be the ancestors of this land and those I call to mind at this time.
When you are ready,
Allow any unused energy you have gathered to return to the earth,
Knowing that it will be there for you whenever you need it again.

Begin bringing subtle movements into your fingers and toes,
And eventually into the rest of your body.
