Welcome to my happy place meditation.
This is one of my favorite meditations and a favorite among our community for times when you're looking to feel a little bit more joyful,
A little bit more calm,
A little bit more grounded.
So whenever you're ready,
I want you to find yourself in a comfortable position.
You can do this meditation lying down or in a seated position.
Wherever you are,
Drop your shoulders down away from the ears.
You can close your eyes or soften your gaze and just start to come into the body and the breath.
Notice the belly rise as you inhale and fall as you exhale.
When you're ready,
I want you to think of a place,
Whether it's somewhere that you've been before,
Somewhere that exists in the world,
Or somewhere that just exists within your own mind,
Your own fantasy.
A place that brings you joy,
A place where you feel safe,
Where you feel calm,
And where you feel at peace.
Together,
We're going to explore using our different senses how to really build a robust visualization of this place that allows your nervous system to reset and calm down.
So let's first start with what you can see.
Look around,
Look side to side,
Up and down,
And just notice what's around you in this happy place.
Notice what colors you can see.
Notice if you are alone or if there's other people there.
Notice what is around you.
Can you start to think of words or phrases that you might use to describe what you see in this place?
And next,
Let's move into what you can hear.
What sounds exist in this place?
Is it the sound of children laughing,
The crackling of a fire,
Wind in the leaves of the trees?
What can you smell?
If you take a big,
Deep breath in,
What is the scent of your happy place?
Does it remind you of some things that bring back any memories or evoke any emotions?
And often closely tied with what we smell,
Maybe there's a taste associated with this place,
Maybe because there is food around you,
Or maybe it's just the feeling of the air when you breathe in,
The taste of salt in the air if you're on the beach,
The taste of freshly cut grass in the smell.
And last,
I want you to think about what you can touch,
Maybe starting with the sensations of your body.
If you're sitting on something,
What is the texture of that chair?
If your feet are on the ground,
What can you feel underneath your feet or between your toes?
What does the air feel like against your face?
And if you reach your arms out to the sides,
Is there anything that you can touch with your hands?
Maybe it's running your fingers through the sand or a long,
Comfortable,
Cozy blanket.
And allow your imagination to take you to this happy place in its fullness.
And notice over your next few breaths,
Where do you feel this happy place in your body?
What does your body tell you?
Or in this moment,
What does your body need to continue to feel this joy,
This comfort,
This safety,
As you move forward in the rest of your day?
Knowing that at any point of time,
When you need it,
You can come back here.
You can come back to your breath.
You can use your imagination to place you in your happy place.
And you can use your five senses to explore and transport you.
When you're ready,
You can begin to add in a little bit of movement to bring yourself back to the present moment,
Whether that's wiggling your fingers,
Wiggling your toes,
Pumping your eyebrows,
Wiggling your nose,
Bringing the corners of your lips into a smile.
And when you're ready,
You can gently roll the shoulders in and back,
Choosing any sort of movement that feels good for you and your body,
And gently open your eyes.
I hope you found this meditation helpful.
I hope it supports you throughout the rest of your day.
And remember,
You can come back and listen to it anytime you need a reset.
Thank you for being here with me.
