My name is Corrie,

Let's meditate together.

For this pranayama breathwork meditation,

Make sure that you're sat in a comfortable position.

During the meditation,

I'm going to take you through four different types of breathing exercise,

Each with its own purpose and intention.

Close your eyes and let's get started.

The first pranayama exercise is to bring you into focus,

To bring your attention into this moment,

Into your body and your breath.

Start to notice everything about your regular breathing pattern.

Don't change it,

Don't slow it down,

Don't deepen it.

Just breathe your normal breathing pattern and put all of your focus and attention onto your breath.

Shut out everything around you,

The noises.

Pull your attention inward.

Pull your awareness into all the different sensations that your breath is causing in your body as you breathe.

Notice the rise and fall of your chest.

Feel how it goes out and in.

The chest goes up as you breathe in and then falls slightly as you breathe out.

Notice the sensations in your abdomen.

When you breathe in,

Your abdomen fills and expands.

And then when you breathe out,

Your abdomen fills and expands.

And then when you breathe in,

Your abdomen fills and expands.

And then when you breathe out,

Your abdomen pulls back towards the spine and empties.

Even if your breath is shallow and the movements are very subtle,

Pay attention to all of it.

Feel the temperature of your breath as you breathe in through your nose.

Feel the sensations of warmth as you breathe out through your nose.

Can you tell how your shoulders lift and fall with every breath?

And every time you exhale,

Your body gets this beautiful flow of relaxation running through it.

And when you inhale,

Your body has a sense of receiving opening,

Allowing all subconscious that it's there if you focus.

To balance the body and bring your yin and yang,

The left and the right side of the body,

Into harmony,

This next pranayama exercise will do just that.

Focus on the left nostril.

You don't have to use your hands.

You don't have to have your hands.

You don't have to use your hands.

You don't have to have any mudra.

Just focus on the left nostril.

Using your intention,

Breathe in through the left nostril.

And then breathe out through the right nostril.

Breathe in through the right nostril.

And breathe out through the left nostril.

I like to imagine the breath coming in to the left,

Going over an archway,

Over the bridge of my nose almost.

And then being released out through my right nostril.

There's a pause in the breath.

And then the breath comes in through my right nostril,

Goes over the archway of my nose,

The bridge of my nose.

There's a pause.

And then a gentle release out through my left nostril.

Carry on doing this cycle with your breath for the next minute.

Thank you for watching!

Now that the body is balanced,

It's time to cleanse.

Bring your breathing back to its normal rhythm.

Start to slow it down slightly,

Taking longer,

Slower,

Deeper breaths.

As you breathe in,

Visualize that you're breathing in a cleansing light,

Something bright,

White or golden.

It's a purifying,

Cleansing light that you're breathing in to your nose.

See the light filling your face,

Your head,

Going down your throat into your lungs.

The light rolls over your shoulders and goes down your arms,

All the way to your fingertips.

See it fill in your chest,

Your abdomen,

Your hips.

It goes down into your legs,

Flows over your knees,

Your calves,

All the way to the tips of your toes.

So every time you inhale,

You see this bright light cleansing every aspect of your being.

It's cleansing your cells,

Your bones,

Your muscles.

It's cleansing your thoughts,

Your emotions,

Any aches or pains,

Any pain that you may have.

Imagine it's just cleaning everything out of your being.

When you exhale,

Visualize a dark mist or a dark cloud coming out of your nose.

Exhale that your breath is completely out of your body.

Squeeze every last bit out of your tummy,

Your chest,

So that you're left on empty.

This exhalation during this part of your meditation is your release,

Your letting go.

You're cleansing out all the old,

Stagnant energy,

All the thoughts and emotions that don't serve you.

You're cleansing your being,

Your body,

Your mind with your breath.

Breathing in the bright light,

Breathing out the dark mist,

The release.

Allow yourself to do this for the next minute.

Sit for as long as you need to and enjoy the peace,

The balance of your breath.

The balance,

The focus that you've created with your breath.
