Hello my friend and welcome to this meditation that I'm going to do with incense.

I'll make sure to write it in the title so that you know that this meditation includes burning incense at the same time.

I'm not sure if you're aware already but you can use incense while you meditate to cleanse,

To cleanse your body or cleanse the space where you're sat.

It's like smudging when you use sage or palo santo.

It has the same cleansing properties.

Not only that,

If you get used to practicing and burning incense at the same time just by smelling the incense when you light it and you start the meditation,

Your left brain says,

Oh it's time to meditate.

You create a loop in the brain's thinking system that recognizes the smell of your incense and therefore recognizes that we normally meditate when we smell that incense.

It also triggers the beginning of your body's reaction to all the feelings that you get when you meditate.

So if you normally feel calm,

If you normally feel peaceful,

More focused when you meditate and you're burning incense at that time,

By burning incense when you don't meditate,

Say you just sat watching TV or reading a book,

Your body will naturally respond in the same way as it does as when you're meditating.

Your body will feel calm and peaceful or more focused just by smelling your incense.

Go ahead and light your incense.

Put it close to where you're sat.

When it starts to burn,

Take a nice big deep breath in.

Repeatedly take some breaths so that you can smell the fragrance of your incense.

Start to cup the smoke with your hands and pull it towards your body using your left hand and then your right hand as if you're starting to shower your body from the top of your head,

Over your face,

Across your chest,

Bringing the smoke towards you.

Pull the smoke over your left shoulder,

Pull the smoke over your right shoulder,

Cupping both hands at the same time,

Pull the incense smoke towards your chest,

Towards your heart space and do that repeatedly for a few breaths.

Keep taking nice long slow deep breaths.

Using both hands pull the smoke down towards your lower abdomen and your root chakra.

Repeat three or four times.

If you're sat in a seated position with your legs crossed and they're right there close to the root chakra,

Pull the smoke down towards your feet so you're cleansing your feet.

Bring in the smoke back up to the top of your head.

Pull some of the smoke up over your crown chakra.

Pull the smoke into the space above your crown chakra.

Starting to think about cleansing the aura and the energy around your body.

Pulling the smoke over to the outer side of the left side of your body.

Do that three or four times and then bring it over to the right outer side of your body.

Make it so that you feel like your whole body is being showered with the smoke from your incense.

Pulling in that cleansing energy,

Wiping your energetical body clean.

In the meantime,

Keep taking those nice long slow deep breaths,

Enjoying the fragrance,

Enjoying the calming sensation that's being created inside of your body.

When it feels like your body is sufficiently cleansed,

Change your point of focus and now just start to stare at the stream of smoke that leaves the tip of your incense.

Watch it swirl and move around and allow this to start to calm you down even more.

Let your mind get mesmerized by the movement of the smoke.

Like watching the flames in a fire or watching the flame on a candle.

This is doing the same thing.

Try and keep your mind open.

The only thing that you're thinking of is the smoke.

You're feeling its movement.

You're following its pattern.

You're completely consumed in that alone.

Focus also on your breath.

Taking those nice long slow deep breaths in and out.

Your incense stick is probably going to last about seven to ten minutes.

I suggest that you stay with it and focus on it until it burns out.

Focus on your breath and enjoy the sense of peace and calm created from doing this simple act.

Namaste my friend.
