Calm Down De-Stress Meditation
This is a calm down NOW meditation because it is structured in a way that guides the thoughts and behaviors into a calm positive, rather than a stressed negative. Using specific words and suggestions creates a healing tool. This tool can be used any time you feel stressed or under pressure, anxious or ungrounded. This meditation can be followed at any time of day, or in the evening before bed.
Transcript
You can either sit in a comfortable position,
You can use a chair with back support if you want to,
If you would prefer to fully relax,
I suggest you lay down.
Either way get comfortable and then close your eyes.
By closing off your eyes you're taking away the distraction of everything around you.
Your brain can focus more clearly on what's happening internally inside of your being.
The best way to start to allow your body to calm down and relax is with your breath.
By closing off your eyes and slowing down your breathing you're automatically starting to relax the parasympathetic nervous system.
This will send signals to your brain that all is well,
You're safe,
You're calm.
So make sure that you slow your breathing down to a comfortable pace.
Nice long slow deep breaths and feel your breath.
Pay extra attention to the back of your neck and your shoulders.
Also our tummy gets tight when we're tense and stressed.
Be aware of what these parts of your body feel like right now in this moment and see if you can start to just breathe some relaxation into those parts of your body.
Imagine that your breath that you're taking in through your nose or your mouth holds this wonderful peaceful relaxing energy and you're purposefully breathing that in allowing it to flow across the back of your neck and your shoulders.
You take another big deep breath and breathe it down to the base of your stomach.
Feel your breath softening the muscles in your tummy.
Allowing your shoulders to drop and relax away from your ears.
Just become more aware of everything that's happening to you on the inside.
Now take your attention to your eyes even though your eyes are closed.
Allow your eyes to roll up just slightly.
Don't strain them.
Allow them to roll up as if you're staring at something in the middle of your forehead.
This is going to start to activate your inner sight and your third eye.
As you stare out into that dark space there in front of your eyes you may start to see different shapes,
Shadows.
It could be completely pitch black and that's totally okay too.
It's very common when your third eye is activating to see the color purple or green and lots of times it looks like a lava lamp.
The colors will blob into focus and then disappear into blackness and then blob back into a different shape and then disappear again into blackness.
This is very normal and very common.
I want you to imagine that you're staring out there into that space as if it's not just black.
As if it's this big wide open field.
A place of so many possibilities there in front of your mind.
And for the sake of this meditation we're going to play with memory.
We're also going to use our imagination and we're going to focus on the word play.
So there's no pressure just relaxation and play.
Using your imagination I'd like you to imagine that in that space there in front of your mind there is a staircase of ten steps going down.
In your mind I'd like you to imagine that you're walking a couple of steps forward until you find yourself standing at the top of those ten steps going down.
The staircase there in front of you can be a staircase that looks familiar to you.
This is where memory comes into play.
You can imagine that you're standing at the top of your own staircase looking down at those steps or you can let your mind play and create any kind of staircase there in front of you today.
But there's ten steps and they lead down into a very special room and I'll tell you about that in just a moment.
For now I want you to look down at your feet.
If you're wearing anything on your feet in your mind go ahead and kick off your socks or your shoes so that you're standing completely barefoot and now you can feel that top step underneath your feet.
You can feel the texture,
The temperature,
Notice what your stairs are made of.
Maybe there is carpet on your steps,
Maybe there is tile,
Wood,
Maybe your staircase looks completely different to that and that's totally okay too.
Know that as you go down these stairs in just a few moments your body will automatically start to feel very very relaxed.
Every step that you take will really take you into a deep state of relaxation just by going down these steps.
Know that when we almost get down to the bottom you will see a very special room there in front of you.
It's special because this is your sanctuary.
It's your safe place.
A place that your mind knows exactly what you need in this space to feel calm,
Peaceful and safe.
The carpet inside of this room is the most softest,
Comfortable-est carpet you will have ever stepped onto.
We're going to go down the steps now.
10,
9,
8,
Feeling the steps underneath your feet.
7,
Just let your body relax.
6,
5,
Feeling comfortable,
Feeling calm.
4,
3,
Just very easily gliding down these stairs.
2,
Almost there,
Ready to step onto that comfortable,
Soft,
Luxurious carpet.
1,
Just be aware of everything that you can feel inside of your feet.
Gently move your feet around on this plush,
Soft surface.
Notice the softness and the give underneath the weight of your body.
How spongy the carpet feels.
Feel the carpet almost squish in around and in between your toes.
It's so,
So comfortable.
It's like you're standing on a cloud.
It's like you're standing on a cloud.
It's so soft.
Notice the color of your carpet.
Remember everything in this space is going to make you feel instantly calm.
Looking over to the left side of your room,
Remembering that all of the objects is all designed to bring you inner peace,
To help you to calm down and feel safe.
Looking straight in front of you,
Notice what's there.
Looking over to your right.
Everything in this safe haven of yours,
Everything that you're looking at right now is being stored inside of your subconscious mind.
All the colors,
The sensations,
The feelings of calmness and inner tranquility and peace.
Everything is being recorded as if you're taking a mental picture of every single thing in this room.
It's all going to stay there in your subconscious mind.
And in the future,
Whether it's any time in the day at work or at home,
Know that simply by closing your eyes and taking a deep breath,
You can recall everything in your safe,
Peaceful place.
And just by taking a long,
Slow,
Deep breath,
Closing off your eyes,
You will bring back all of these peaceful,
Calming,
Safe feelings that you have inside of you right now.
You'll bring this moment back into your future realities to help you to calm down,
To help you to let go of tension or anxiety.
This space that you're in right now is what your mind has created.
It knows that this is a healing place for you.
If you walk around the room and touch the things that are in the room,
The sensations that you feel,
The textures,
Everything is being stored inside of your subconscious mind.
And you will have the ability to recall it just by using the intention of closing your eyes,
Taking a deep breath.
And in your mind's eye,
You will see this room just as if you're back here.
You'll see it all exactly the same and you'll feel its peaceful energy exactly the same as you do right now in this moment.
You'll be able to feel this plush,
Soft,
Spongy carpet underneath your feet as if you're right back here,
Just like this.
But most importantly,
It will help you to instantly calm down.
It will help you to instantly feel grounded and safe.
You'll be able to take back control of your thoughts and feel calm again whenever you need to.
Taking one last look over to your left,
Taking all of the details in,
Looking straight forward in front of you.
And finally,
Over to your right and noticing everything over there.
Feeling the texture of this beautiful carpet underneath your feet,
Registering the colours all around you.
Now when I count to three in just a few moments,
You'll find yourself back at the bottom of the ten steps with your eyes still closed.
One,
Two,
Three.
Coming back up the ten steps together,
Feeling the steps underneath your feet.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
Pausing here to just take a nice,
Big,
Deep breath in and out.
Six,
Seven,
Eight,
Nine,
Ten.
Gently opening your eyes,
Finding yourself back in your space.
Bringing gentle movement into your fingertips.
Maybe whittling your toes a little bit.
Connecting back to your physical body,
Knowing that that memory is locked in.
It's in the vault of your subconscious mind and it's there whenever you need it.
Namaste my friend.
