Fear is such a gift. It's a protection and also a route to our desires. Having the capacity to hold fear, whilst also cultivating a deep trust that soothes it is an incredibly powerful practice to hold within yourself. This meditation is a reminder of that.

Hi and welcome to this meditation practice designed to move you from a place of fear into trust and surrender.

Fear is such a gift.

The fear you are experiencing right now is here to protect you and to keep you safe.

Beneath that fear lies a desire,

A want,

A need and when we are able to hear this fear,

Give it space and thank it for its presence and then move into a place of trust,

What we are doing is we are moving from force to flow and we are opening ourselves up to receive.

And this is what this practice is designed to guide you into not just here in this moment but whenever this fear arises,

Reminding you that both can coexist,

Fear and trust both lie within us and we can tap into them within our own bodies.

So to begin this practice,

Just take a moment to make any adjustments so that you are fully comfortable in this space.

Perhaps that looks like rolling back the shoulders,

Relaxing the jaw,

Releasing the space between the eyebrows,

Replanting the sit bones onto the earth and then when you're comfortable,

Draw your awareness to your breath and just start to notice how it's flowing in and out.

And then next exhale,

Maybe releasing a little longer and then next inhale,

Breathing in for 3,

Pausing at the top of the breath for 3,

2,

1,

Exhaling 3,

2,

1,

Pausing 3,

2,

1,

Inhaling 3,

2,

1,

Pausing 3,

2,

1,

Exhaling 3,

Pausing 3,

One more time,

Inhaling for 3,

2,

Pausing 3,

Now just letting the breath flow back into its natural rhythm,

Maybe noticing any differences after that breath and I want you to allow the sensation of fear into this space.

Maybe that looks like the mind filling or perhaps it's more of a physical reaction.

Just let it be here and then if you can,

Notice where that fear is arising in the body and then come to place a hand on that space.

If you can't feel fear in the body in any particular space,

You can just come to place your hand on your heart.

I want you to just spend a moment with this fear,

Let it have its voice,

Hear what it has to say.

We hear so much on letting things go and pushing them away but really the only way through is to let things in.

Now I invite you to see how it would feel to thank this fear,

To thank it for protecting you,

Keeping you safe or maybe even just showing you what you truly desire.

Breathe into this space,

Feel it expand and then exhale,

You can release that hand down.

Taking a cleansing breath here,

Inhaling and exhaling,

Perhaps through the mouth to clear the energy and then I want you to sit with what it would feel like to trust.

To hear that fear but know that there are greater powers at play here,

Divine timing,

Things that maybe you can't understand,

Things unfolding for a particular reason that are all for your highest and greatest good.

What does it feel like to sit in that space?

To breathe in,

To expand this energy and then see if you can notice where you feel this in your body.

Where do you feel this grounding,

Trusting,

Surrendering energy in the body?

And when you've located that space,

Again just bring a hand laid on top and if it isn't arising anywhere for you in the body,

Just bring it down to your root chakra,

The space just below your belly button.

Spend a few moments breathing into this space,

Again thanking it,

Thanking its presence and the next exhale maybe releasing through the mouth as you release the hand down.

Take a few rounds of cleansing breaths here,

Allowing the body to reset,

To find its middle,

Find its medium and then bringing a hand to both of those spaces,

So you have one hand on each and when the fear arises,

Letting it be in this space and then seeing how with every exhale you can bring it down into your space of trust and grounding.

So feeling that physically move through the body,

Noticing the fear arise,

Letting it be here,

Hearing what it has to say and then breathing down into that place of trust and maybe the fears are arising for you now and you can practice,

Maybe you can just feel into both the sensations in these spaces,

Noticing the difference between how the fear feels and how the trust feels.

Spending just a few more moments here,

Getting comfortable with these sensations simultaneously existing within you,

Dancing between the two,

Moving the energy and then releasing the hands back down to wherever they were placed before,

Noticing how it feels now to be in your body,

Maybe noticing what the fear looks like,

How it's changed and transformed and maybe inviting this place of trust to step forward in this moment,

Not silencing the fear but also just letting it know that it's okay,

It's not needed right now and taking another cleansing breath,

Deepening the inhale,

Opening the mouth to exhale,

Staying here for as long as you need but also knowing that both of these energies coexist within you,

When you have moments where the fear feels so charged,

So forceful,

Knowing that that place of trust,

Surrender,

Grounding is also within you too and sometimes switching between the two can be as simple as a breath,

Placing a hand on the energy and just coming back as many times as it takes,

Thanking the fear and moving into trust.

I am in so much fear and hopelessness that I didn’t think anything would help. I half-heartedly followed along the Exercise and Meditation not thinking it would make any difference. Toward the end of the Meditation, a thought came to me. “ Maybe I don’t have to figure it out.” For my overthinking mind, that was the most brilliant thought I’ve had. The idea that maybe I could just trust in the universe and in my G_d was incredibly reassuring. The tension I felt in my forehead eased up as I brought the feeling down to my heart. I felt a huge shift in my perspective. I was only halfway involved in this Meditation exercise and it still made a profound difference. It’s amazing what can happen when I’m even a little bit open minded and willing to try something different or something I don’t think will work
