Hello there.
Begin by finding a quiet space where you won't be disturbed.
Sit or lie down in a relaxed position.
Notice everything around you before you gently close your eyes.
Connect to your breath,
Inhaling deeply through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth.
Continue to take deep breaths.
As many as you need until you notice your body really settled into the space.
For this practice,
I encourage you to settle into the intention of forgiveness.
Whether it's forgiving yourself or someone else or simply opening your heart to the possibility of forgiveness.
Hold this intention gently in your mind.
Imagine that you have a camera in your mind.
This camera represents your perspective on life,
Your experiences and your emotions.
Notice the lens of this camera.
How it may be focused narrowly on certain events,
People or feelings.
Begin to visualize the camera lens slowly widening.
As it widens,
It takes in a broader view,
Capturing more of the world around you.
See how this expanded perspective allows more light and understanding to come into view.
Notice how this lens continues to widen with each exhale.
With this wider lens,
See if you can turn the camera towards yourself.
See yourself with compassion and understanding.
Acknowledge any mistakes or shortcomings,
But also recognize your strengths,
Your growth and your inherent worth.
I'll encourage you to repeat.
I forgive myself for any past mistakes.
I am human and I am learning.
I deserve love and forgiveness,
Especially from myself.
I invite you to repeat these one more time.
This time putting a hand on your heart,
Another on your abdomen.
Really grounding you into these affirmations.
I forgive myself for any past mistakes.
I am human and I am learning.
I deserve love and forgiveness,
Especially from myself.
Now turn the camera towards someone you wish to forgive.
With the wider lens,
See them as a whole person with their own struggles,
Fears and hopes.
Acknowledge their humanity and the possibility that they too are doing their best.
When you are ready,
Say silently.
I forgive you for any pain you have caused.
I release any resentment and choose peace.
I see you with compassion and understanding.
Allow the feelings of forgiveness,
Compassion and understanding to fill your heart.
Feel a sense of lightness and relief as you let go of any negative emotions.
Trust that by widening your perspective,
You are creating space for healing and growth.
Take a few more deep breaths.
With each exhale,
Release any remaining tension.
Slowly bring your awareness back when it feels right for you.
And know that whatever came out of this practice,
You can always return.
Holding space for all your emotions and allowing yourself to release whatever you need.
Trust your innate wisdom as you slowly return back.
Intentionally adjust your body.
Take a moment to sit quietly and reflect on your experience.
Carrying the peace and understanding that you have cultivated with you into the rest of your day.
Thank you for your practice.
