Beginner's Mind.
This is one of the attitudes of mindfulness.
And when we practice with this intention,
We come to things as a beginner.
So as if we're feeling,
Experiencing,
And even having thoughts as if we're having those for the first time.
So this just brings a fresh perspective and allows us hopefully to begin to get curious and to start loosening with our beliefs and what we know or what we think we know.
So however that comes up to you in the practice today.
Just getting yourself into a sitting position.
Nice and alert,
Also comfortable.
Closing your eyes,
That feels good.
And just bringing your attention.
Do whatever you want,
Whether that's your breath or feeling your body as it's sitting on the chair.
Or perhaps another sense,
Like sound.
I'm just focusing.
Your attention.
On that that you've chosen.
And his thoughts come up.
It might be tempting to be a bit like,
I know,
I know,
I've had that before,
Which of course you will have done,
Probably,
Because a lot of our thoughts are repeated.
What?
Just acknowledging it.
And maybe looking at it.
With a fresh perspective.
Beginner's Mind.
Before letting it go and coming back.
To your anchor,
Whether that's the breath or body sounds.
This is the first time that we've ever had this moment.
So can we bring that sense of beginner's mind?
To that.
So if it's your breath you're focusing on.
It might be that you're noticing a new sensation.
Or a different area.
If it's your body as you sit on the chair.
Perhaps you can feel it in a slightly different way than usual.
Or maybe new words pop into your mind to describe it.
Or if it sounds,
Maybe it's the way your ears pick up the sound.
So,
Just sitting.
And just being.
With this intention of.
.
.
Fresh perspective.
And as we're coming to the end of the practice,
Just again focusing on what you want to perhaps focusing on a different area or a different anchor and the practice.
And gently Opening your eyes.
Perhaps as you look around.
Bringing that beginner's mind.
To the things that you can see in front of you.
As if a baby or a child would approach something.
And seeing it for the first time,
Can you bring that into the rest of your day?
So letting go of these preconceived notions or beliefs.
I'm just really.
.
.
Feeling and looking from a new perspective.
Quite a big ask.
Well done.
