Hello,
My name is Clover Norton and I'm a mindfulness and meditation teacher.
And this podcast is based on Letting Go.
Letting Go,
It's an invitation to cease clinging to anything,
An idea,
A thing,
An event,
A particular time,
View or desire.
Letting Go is a conscious decision to release with full acceptance into the stream of present moments unfolding and living here in this space.
By cultivating Letting Go,
We discover something very powerful and wholesome,
Which comes from allowing things to be just as they are without getting caught up in your attraction or indeed rejection.
Do we like this?
Do we like that?
Evaluating this,
Calculating that,
Comparing this.
It's having the ability to catch ourselves getting stuck.
If we can just bring awareness to the fact we are getting stuck,
Letting Go can follow.
Stillness,
Insight and wisdom arise only when we can settle into being complete in this moment without having to seek or reject anything.
We can cultivate Letting Go in our bodies through exercise or yoga practices,
Mindfulness movement,
Focusing on tension of the body and with each movement breathing in and letting go.
We can cultivate Letting Go in our hearts by journaling.
We can write down aspects of Letting Go that we're attracted to.
We can let go with the flow of the pencil and we can cultivate Letting Go in our minds through meditation practice.
There's a beautiful quote from Deepak Chopra that says,
In the process of letting go,
You will lose many things from the past,
But you will find yourself.
I'm going to invite you now into a formal meditation practice.
The concept of this meditation is our topic,
Letting Go.
I'm going to ask you to find a comfortable position seated on a chair or on a sofa on the ground or lying down,
Whatever feels good for you.
I'm going to invite you to close your eyes or keep them open if that feels good for you.
We're going to start the meditation by taking in three deep cleansing breaths.
Slowly breathing in through the nose and really lengthening that out breath through the mouth.
Breathing in,
Lengthening that breath out and one more time.
Feel the oxygen enter the lungs and now coming into normal breathing.
Filling the lungs again,
Slowly and gently melting away any tension,
Clearing the mind of any thoughts and becoming grounded.
Bringing ourselves into the moment of now.
Recognizing the beauty and the magic of this practice and what it may contain for you to transform,
Transmute,
Transcend,
Move you beyond any inner limitations,
Any blocks in your physical health or mental and emotional well-being.
Letting go is an invitation to cease clinging onto anything.
By cultivating letting go,
We discover something very powerful and wholesome which comes from allowing things to be just as they are.
What are you holding on to?
Let it go.
Are you holding on to your breath?
Let it go,
Let it go,
Even a bit further,
Release the breath.
What are you holding on to in the body?
Let it go,
Let it melt away,
Release the tension in the body,
Just let it go.
What are you holding on to in the mind?
Let it go.
They're just thoughts,
It's not real.
We have many,
Many thoughts,
That's okay.
Just let it go.
If there is something in the mind very specific or perhaps even a bit heavy,
Let it go,
Just let it go.
How about the heart?
Is there something you're holding on to in the heart?
Let it go,
Let it float away,
Just let it go.
You know,
Your soul knows what to let go of.
You know what needs to go.
Now bring awareness to all of it.
We can hold all of it in awareness.
The breath,
The body,
The mind and the heart,
Even the soul.
We can hold all of it in pure awareness and non-judgment and we can just let go.
You know,
Most of it,
It's just stuff.
Stuff we get caught up in at work,
In society,
People's opinions,
Outer influences.
Most of it isn't real.
The real you knows that and the real you can just let go.
I am going to invite you now to imagine in your mind's eye that there is a string tied to your pinky finger,
Your little finger and attached to this string is a floating balloon.
Can you see what colour it is?
What shape is it?
We are going to transfer whatever it is we need to let go of into this balloon.
This balloon is a gift.
I invite you to transfer whatever it is into the balloon now.
The balloon may change,
It may become big,
It may stay the same size.
You may have multiple balloons.
Whatever it is,
It's all good.
We are not judging the balloon.
We are just letting it be with pure acceptance and non-judgment.
It just is what it is.
And now it's all there in this balloon.
And you can decide if you want to let go.
You may be ready now or perhaps you are not quite ready.
You may need a little longer to sit with it in awareness and that's good too.
But if you are ready now,
Let it go now.
And you can visualise the balloon soaring into the sky,
Past the clouds,
Out to the atmosphere,
Into the universe.
You are sending whatever you need to let go of out to the energy of the universe for it to take care of it.
All that is right for you will be.
And by letting go,
We open up to the flow of the universe for things to run more smoothly in our lives.
Trust and have faith in the universe.
Trust in divine timing.
You are exactly where you need to be in this precise moment in time in order for your spirit to grow.
In a moment,
I will ask you to come out of meditation but to keep your effortless physical state and your relaxed and peaceful mind.
Slowly moving your fingers and your toes,
Waking up the body.
Perhaps you'd like to rub your hands together,
Warming the hands and bringing your hands to your face,
Giving your face a little massage.
And if it feels good to do so,
Just stretching out the hands and the arms.
Thank you very much everybody.
Namaste.
