Meditating with the spirit of a smile awakens our natural capacity for unconditional friendliness. It helps to activate the energy of loving kindness and gratitude for ourselves and others. I invite you to practice daily. This is especially helpful when you are judging yourself or experiencing challenges.

Welcome to Mindful Living of Daily Life with Cindy Wolk Weiss.

Begin by finding a comfortable place to sit or lie down in a relaxed and wakeful posture.

Taking a few nice deep breaths.

Inhaling your lungs.

Exhaling slowly.

Deep breath in.

Slow breath out.

Deep breath in.

And on the exhalation,

Allowing your lips to gently lift into a bit of a smile.

The kind you would see on a Mona Lisa or the Buddha.

Breathing in,

I calm body and mind.

Breathing out,

I gently smile to myself.

Dwelling in this moment,

I know that this is the only moment.

And as a smile at your lips become Buddha-like,

The jaw relaxes.

Tongue and throat muscles are softening and relaxing.

And allow the smile to drift down to your heart.

Perhaps your heart opens and softens a bit so you can feel your heart receiving the smile of loving kindness.

Breathing in,

I bring loving kindness to my heart.

Breathing out,

I smile to my heart.

Sensing the smile and kindness in my heart that sends ripples of kindness out to all my body.

To my arms,

Legs,

And to my feet.

Throughout my torso.

Out through my arms and into my hands.

Sensing this energy of loving kindness for myself throughout my entire being.

My whole body filling with the smile of loving kindness.

Just sitting now for a moment with a sense of loving kindness to be fully within you.

With this in-breath,

With this out-breath.

It's a way of saying yes to life and its imperfections and messiness.

Taking your time.

Returning to life with a gentle smile.

May you be blessed with ease.
