Life asks a lot from us.
The pace we are required to move at seems to be forever accelerating.
And rather than match that pressure.
With self-compassion.
We tend to push ourselves to meet it.
Rather than give ourselves kind words of compassion and care.
We tend to criticize ourselves.
And judge ourselves for not meeting unattainable standards.
For this meditation.
Is going to help us take a short break.
Not to feel sorry for ourselves or to wallow in any self-pity.
But to acknowledge our challenges.
And identify a couple of ways.
In which we can be more.
Compassionate.
With ourselves.
So taking a nice long,
Slow,
Deep breath in.
Exhaling in your own time.
And again.
Repeating his breaths.
A little longer,
A little slower than usual.
Giving your body.
And mind.
An opportunity to settle.
Slow down.
Come a little more still.
And now let's begin by.
.
.
Offering your body.
Some compassion.
Notice where in your body might need a little attention or care.
You might immediately know the answer.
Your thoughts might go to that area of your body.
And if it does.
.
.
So allow that area to soften.
Directing.
Your attention.
Your care,
Your appreciation.
Even love for that part of your body.
And if you're not 100% sure,
Or maybe there's several areas in your body that need your attention.
.
.
Start at the top of your head.
Scanning down.
Resting your attention on each part of your body just for a moment.
Asking what it needs from you.
And would a hand on the area that needs attention or a hand on your heart.
Repeat these lines,
Your head.
Thank you,
Body,
For all that you do.
May I be kind to my body.
May I offer my body more kindness and care.
Now let's move to our mind.
And offer our mind some compassion.
Because our thoughts aren't always kind towards ourselves.
How can I?
Offer my thoughts.
Encourage my thoughts.
To be a little kinder towards myself.
And when I notice a thought that's unkind,
Can I notice it?
And not judge myself for it.
To repeat these lines.
I meet my thoughts with more kindness.
May my mind find peace.
And my mind is allowed to rest from time to time.
Moving now to your emotions.
We're often hard on ourselves because of what we are feeling.
Maybe we've been told we're too emotional.
Maybe you're upset with yourself for feeling angry.
Or maybe for feeling jealous.
Or having other emotions that aren't deemed to be right.
Of remember all our human emotions are valid.
It's okay to react.
And to feel negative emotions because.
.
.
That's part of being human.
But we notice and decide do we want to linger with that emotion or do we want to allow it to move through.
So repeating these lines.
My feelings deserve kindness.
It's okay to feel the way I feel.
And I meet my emotions.
With compassion.
And where in your life.
Are you expecting too much from yourself?
Where are your standards too high?
Where are you pushing yourself?
Maybe unnecessarily.
For just asking yourself that question now.
Or can I soften a little?
Where can I slow down?
Where can I have more compassion?
When we're appeasing him.
Peace.
Final words.
I am allowed to be human.
I give myself space.
To learn and grow.
And my best today.
Is enough.
Just breathing in.
Knowing that you are enough.
Remembering and accepting your humanity.
Committing to a little more kindness.
A little more self-compassion.
A little more self-care.
And have a beautiful day.
Thanks for joining me.
