This is a very brief, grounding Mindfulness practice. You could listen to this recording when you wish to establish a sense of balance, calm, and presence. No music was added for extra focus. | Inspired by the recording, “Feet on The Floor” from the book, “Teaching Mindfulness-Based Groups: The Inside Out Group Model” by Trish Bartley and Gemma Griffith. Transcript

Welcome to this brief Feet on the Floor practice,

Starting by bringing attention to the soles of your feet,

Whether you're sitting or standing,

And directly into the points of contact between your feet and whatever they're resting on.

Perhaps your shoes,

Perhaps the floor itself.

And in doing that,

We can move into a little bit of detail if you want to.

So perhaps focusing in on toes,

Contact points of toes,

Balls of the feet,

Heels at the back,

And as we do this,

Really cultivating a sense of the weight of the body going down,

Held by the feet on the floor,

Having a sense of the solid of the floor beneath the feet,

Feeling a sense of being held by gravity,

Held by the floor,

Held by this planet itself.

Feet on the floor,

Knowing that you can do this practice at any point.

Go well.

A gentle and short practice showing how accessible it is to have a moment of just being. Wonderfully centering. Thank you, Christoph!
