Hi there,
It's Christiane Zyrowski,
Your body intelligence coach.
I'm so glad you're here.
We're here today to check in with your body,
To notice what's happening,
To get curious,
To play a little,
And to explore what's already there.
Together we'll be focusing on the legs,
Our tree trunks,
Those important parts of us that connect us to the ground,
They enable us to move,
And they carry us forward every day in life.
The goal is simple,
To just notice what's happening and grow our awareness.
There's nothing to get right.
You might notice heaviness,
Or a playful sense of connection,
Or who knows what else?
We won't know until we try.
That's the fun of exploration.
If you're ready,
Let's get started.
I invite you to bring your attention down to your legs.
Whatever you're doing right now,
Notice how they are.
Are you sitting or standing?
Are they crossed or straight?
Is your left leg or your right leg ahead?
What's your natural resting place?
Do you notice you've got more weight to put on one side or the other?
Or are they evenly distributed?
Pay attention to how they're feeling in the position they're in.
Are they warm and cozy?
Do you have a blanket on?
Are they a little bit chilled and you feel the cool air around you?
Just notice the sensations we often take for granted.
Now pay attention to the quality of your legs.
Do they feel heavy,
Like they really crave rest?
Or light and energized,
Like they want to get up and move?
Is there tension or softness?
Can you feel your thighs,
Your hamstrings and your quads?
Have you had a workout recently?
Is there anything going on there?
How about your knees?
They move with us all day,
Every day.
Sometimes they creak.
Are they at rest?
Is there any pain or throbbing?
How about your calves?
Another body part we usually neglect.
Could they use a stretch?
Is there an absence of sensation?
What do you notice as we just focus our attention on our tree trunks?
Now,
Sometimes we need to get more movement in order to have more sensation.
So let's play a little with movement.
I invite you to stand up and gently walk around the room if you can.
You don't need too much space.
Just a few steps is fine.
Notice how your legs respond and react.
Each time your foot makes contact with the ground.
Can you feel the tense and release in your calf as you engage your muscles?
Can you feel your quad,
Your thighs moving each time you take a step?
Can you feel a stretch in the contraction as your foot presses into the floor?
Can you feel your hips move with each step?
What's your gait like?
Do you put more pressure on one side or the other?
Does one leg take a longer stride than the other?
What can you notice by simply observing your own walk?
Now,
I invite you to try another movement.
See what happens when you slightly bend your legs.
Maybe it's a small bend in the knee.
Feel how your muscles and joints and tendons react.
Now,
If you can,
Bend at the waist and see how far you can touch.
Maybe you make it to your toes,
Your shins or your knees.
Can you feel that pull along the back of your legs?
Can you notice one leg tighter than the other?
Can you notice anything at all?
Now,
Slowly roll back up and see if you can notice any shifts in your legs as you're changing position.
Can you wiggle your toes and feel all the way up the front of your shin while you move different parts of your legs?
Can you be on your tiptoes and feel your calf contract?
What happens if you speed up your walk or you take bigger marching steps?
How can you notice your legs respond and react?
Which one feels better?
Do you enjoy the speed or the slowness?
Deep breath in.
I invite you to pause and reflect.
Can you notice any difference between sitting,
Standing and moving?
How does the quality of each movement or static position shift in your legs?
What feels the most natural to you?
Which one calls you and says,
My body wants more of this?
Which one feels foreign,
Unnatural or like,
Please make it stop?
There's no right way and every day will be different.
Simply curiosity.
Let yourself explore sense by sense,
Posture by posture and see what new sensations you can discover.
Was there any resistance in any of those movements?
Was there anything that called you?
Did any emotions or stories come up?
Is there something your body is craving more of?
We invite you to do one last shake it out.
You can jump up and down,
You can stomp,
You can shake out one each leg and notice how the sensation moves from a slow to perhaps a tingling as your circulation rushes to those parts of your body.
You can clench and release and feel all the new sensations we are capable of when we pause to notice.
Do you ever notice any difference?
