Hi there,
It's Christiane Zyrowski,
Your body intelligence coach.
I'm so glad you're here.
We're here to check in with your body again.
Notice what's happening,
Get curious and play as we explore what's already there.
Today we're focusing on the arms,
The part of you that holds,
That hugs,
That lifts and carries.
The goal is simple,
Just to notice how they feel,
How they move and support you.
There's nothing to get right.
You might notice heaviness,
Lightness,
Tension or energy.
That's the fun of exploration.
You won't know until you try.
Now let's begin.
First,
I invite you to notice how your arms are naturally resting.
Whatever position you're in,
Seated or standing,
Doesn't matter.
Notice,
Are they dangling at your sides?
Are they neatly folded in your lap?
Or are they resting on a table surface,
Maybe the chair arms?
How does that feel right now?
Do you notice any tightness,
Any heaviness?
Or do they feel relaxed,
Light,
Or maybe simply the absence of tension?
Whatever is right for you,
Doesn't matter.
We're just noticing.
Can you pay a little closer attention and notice the subtle pulsations in your forearms?
Maybe your elbows or your shoulders.
Can you feel that blood flowing through your veins?
That's a hard one to access for many,
And that's okay.
Try put your hand on it.
Can you feel that energy,
The circulation moving through your inner arm?
Can you notice the temperature of your skin?
Can you notice the softness of your skin?
Or perhaps it's the fabric of your sweater.
What can you feel in that place that we typically ignore?
Is there any ease or stiffness?
Do your arms typically hold tension or gripping or fists,
Perhaps from typing at the computer or scrolling on your phone or carrying heavy things?
Just notice.
Sometimes that's really hard to access.
So next,
I invite you to try clenching your fists and your arms,
All of your muscles.
And we're going to hold for just five seconds.
One,
Two,
Four,
Five,
Release.
Notice how you really feel that blood flow,
Almost like a hose that's had a kink.
And when you open it,
All the water rushes out.
The sensation returns to our arms,
When just seconds ago,
It was hard to notice.
Do your arms feel freer now?
How does this feeling compare to when they were at rest?
Simply notice.
Next,
I invite you to play with a little movement.
You can do this seated or standing.
If you have injuries,
Please feel free to adapt.
But I invite everyone,
If they can,
To lift their arms tall over their head and give me your best cat stretch.
Hold that for a few seconds.
Be so tall.
And relax them down.
Again,
You can feel the shift of the blood flow.
Just notice.
And let's play a little bit more.
Pretend you're a kid on the playground and start windmilling your arms.
Perhaps you're rotating left and right.
Perhaps you're big circles.
Flap them around like you're five and you just don't care.
Shake them,
Do a dance,
Whatever you like.
Any kind of movement you can bring into your arms.
Shake,
Shake,
Twist,
Twist,
Flip,
Flip,
Flop like wet noodles.
Can you sense energy flowing all the way from your shoulder to your fingertips?
Can you feel lightness?
Heaviness?
Does anything feel surprising?
Again,
We're here to just notice what is already there and pay attention to the parts of us we usually ignore.
Now I invite you to go back to sitting.
Notice how your arms feel when you're sitting.
What is your natural pose?
Did you cross your arms?
Did you enlace your fingers?
Are you fidgeting with something or touching their pant leg?
What is your tendency?
Now I invite you to move again.
Stand up.
Slowly walk around the room.
Notice how your arms naturally move.
Do your arms stay stiff at your side as you walk?
Do you like to put them in your pocket?
Do they flow freely,
Moving with each step?
Do you tend to hold your fists closed?
Are your fingers open?
Just notice.
What is natural for you?
Play with the one that's not.
Do you like it?
Does it feel foreign?
Ask yourself,
Where could your arms use more spaciousness or maybe more play?
Movement helps bring awareness and so does touch.
If those were hard to access,
Here's another way.
Another way to play with sensation.
I invite you to take your hand and gently trace your fingertip along your inner arm.
All the way from your hand to your shoulder.
If you have fabric there,
You can just put more pressure.
You can lift your arm to feel the skin-to-skin contact.
Can you notice the tingles that happen when you trace softly?
Maybe you trace with your fingernail or maybe you try with firmer pressure.
Can you notice a temperature shift?
Can you notice new awareness?
Is it prickly?
Is it tingly?
Is it relaxed or tense?
Which part of your arm has the most sensation?
Just play and notice.
Now,
If you zoom out of this one particular spot,
What else can you notice at the same time?
Can you notice what your arms might be trying to do?
Do you feel strong?
Do you feel soft and playful?
Do you feel armored up and protective?
Does any emotion come up as you explore your arms?
Perhaps you feel a bit guarded.
Perhaps you feel silly like this isn't for you.
Or a softening.
A lightness.
Or a heaviness and a strength.
It really doesn't matter.
This is just your body talking to you,
Giving you information.
How does this change as you clench and release?
As you stretch and shake?
And finally,
Notice if anything surprising has come about based on your observation of your arms.
Just notice.
No judgment.
No story.
No analysis.
Just playful experiencing.
Whether your arms felt stiff or surprisingly light or full of energy or tender and soft,
All of it is perfectly okay.
Everything you notice is just information.
It's your body intelligence.
Speaking to you.
The more you pay attention,
The more your body can guide you.
So I invite you to notice,
To reflect,
And to play.
And imagine what more you could uncover with regular guidance.
But please,
Please,
Please don't forget to play.
Because life doesn't have to be so hard.
I'm so glad you landed here.
