Hi there,
It's Christiane Zarewski,
Your body intelligence coach.
I'm so glad you're here.
We're here to check in with your body.
Notice what's happening,
Get curious,
And maybe even play a little as you explore.
Today's focus is the jaw and mouth.
Noticing habitual tension.
Clenching,
Or patterns you might not usually feel.
The goal is simple,
Just to bring awareness to how this part of your body holds or releases and see what else you notice.
There's nothing to get right.
You might notice resistance or maybe some playful ease.
That's the fun and exploration.
You won't know unless you try.
Let's begin.
I invite you to bring your attention to your jaw and to your mouth.
Notice how they're resting.
Just right now,
Without any effort.
Is your jaw clenched?
Or is it pinging saw?
Are your lips relaxed?
Are they slightly pursed?
Or somewhere in between.
Just notice.
What is your natural go-to?
Can you feel any subtle creaking or clicking or maybe that snap crackle pop?
As you gently rotate your jaw.
Open.
Closed.
Stretching like a yawn.
Notice what the sensations of movement feel like.
Are they slow,
Careful rotations?
Or are they fast,
And side to side?
How many different sensations can you notice in this part of your body?
Now,
I invite you to bring your awareness even deeper inwards.
And notice the inside of your mouth.
Can you feel the texture of the roof of your mouth?
Those little bumpies at the top there that you can see.
Roll your tongue along.
The sides of your teeth.
Do they feel sharp?
Or maybe slippery.
And the tip of your tongue on the back of your teeth.
In your licks.
Can you notice how warm or cool it feels?
What if you open your mouth?
Can you notice the temperature shift?
Breathe in with a wide mouth.
And notice how the cool air changes the way your mouth feels.
Do you feel the dryness?
Can you detect any taste?
From whatever you last ate.
Or drink.
Or maybe just the moisture on your tongue.
Just notice.
Without needing to change a thing.
Now let's add a bit more playful movement.
I invite you to really open as wide as you can.
Make it like a huge yawn or like you want to scream at the top of your lungs.
And now soften your jaw.
Just let it.
Hang loose.
Almost like a little bit of drool would escape out the side.
How long can you hold it that way?
That is a fear,
Girl.
And relax.
Does it feel silly?
And uncomfortable.
Like,
What if somebody saw you?
Just notice.
How your body naturally responds.
And movement.
Notice what shifts in the rest of your body.
Because we're all interconnected.
Can you pay attention to the way your neck feels?
Shoulders.
Or face shift as you open and close.
Change shape with your mouth.
Can you feel those striations down the side of your neck?
Can you feel your face skin tighten?
And relax.
Try playful shapes,
Try kissy faces,
Try to blow smoke-o's in the cold air.
Try smushy faces and hold for five seconds.
Dry fishy faces,
Or exaggerated chewing,
Anything you would do with a two-year-old.
Have some fun.
Do you like to play?
Does it feel?
Liberating.
Or is there a little resistance?
Is there tension?
Just notice.
Reflect on how your jaw usually feels.
What would you do if you wanted to feel,
Let's say,
10% more relaxed right now?
What could you gift your jaw?
In your mouth.
Can you breathe gently?
Into any tight spots.
Can you use your imagination?
The scent.
Breath and energy into those.
Stiff kinky spots.
And notice them soften.
Can you feel subtle shifts?
Just by shining the light of your attention here.
Now I invite you to add another layer.
Take your hands and place them on either side of your cheeks.
Notice how your jaw responds to that.
Do they feel?
Warm.
And nurturing,
Like an embrace from a grandma or your mom as a child.
Does your jaw stiffen?
And not like it.
Or your hands cold.
Notice the interplay,
If any.
Between your hands,
Your jaw.
And your overall facial tension.
Does anything change?
Just notice.
I invite you to notice the connections.
Those things we take for granted.
Between your jaw and your neck.
Your mouth,
And your tongue,
And your lips.
The ripple of tension or release that spreads throughout your face.
Explore it gently.
Notice without judgment.
And see what new sensations appear when you give your attention fully to this area.
There's no right or wrong.
Only exploration.
Whether your jaw and mouth felt stiff.
Soft.
Playful.
Were surprisingly alive.
It's all perfectly okay.
Everything you notice is simply information.
Your body intelligence.
The more you pay attention.
The more your body can guide you.
Notice.
Reflect.
And play.
And imagine what more you could uncover with regular guidance.
And please don't forget to play.
Because life just doesn't have to be so hard.
Thank you for coming.
I'm so glad you landed here.
