For your floating meditation today,
You'll focus on the element of water inside yourself.
I'll be guiding you into a floating meditation,
Letting you float quietly on your own for two minutes,
And then bring you back to standing.
Before you start,
Grab sunglasses or a hat or anything else you might need to be comfortable.
You'll need one pool noodle for this meditation.
Tuck the pool noodle behind you and wrap it under your armpits.
Your hands can be on the pool noodle or relaxing on the surface of the water.
You can choose to be totally suspended by bending your knees,
Or your toes can stay anchored to the pool floor.
Either way,
You want to keep your feet under your head so you stay stable on your noodle.
Some people find this easier if they cross their ankles.
Settle on to your noodle.
The noodle will support you and get comfortable in your floating position.
Your eyes can be open.
Just let them relax and bring the gaze to the surface of the water.
You can also gently close your eyes.
Notice all the sounds around you,
The sensations those sounds bring.
Relax your awareness of those and draw your attention closer to become aware of the water directly around you.
Narrow your awareness further to notice what's going on inside yourself in this moment.
Your breath,
Your body,
Your mind.
Narrow down again to connect with the ebb and flow of your breath.
Like the incoming and receding tide,
Your breath goes in and out.
Feel your nostrils hydrate the air that comes into your body.
Feel your juicy lungs receive the oxygen.
Notice the smell of the moist air around you.
Notice your evaporative exhales.
And let the moisture nourish you in the brief pause before your exhales release your moist breath.
Feel your nostrils hydrate the air that comes into your body.
Feel your juicy lungs receive the oxygen.
Notice the smell of the moist air around you.
Let the moisture nourish you in the brief pause before your exhale releases your moist breath,
Your evaporative exhales.
Water in and water out.
Spend several moments relishing the deliciousness of your breath.
Feel its warmth and comfort like holding a mug of hot tea in your hands,
Knowing you can drink in its nourishment over and over.
Water in and water out.
Water in and water out.
And now follow the rivers of your consciousness.
Not the thoughts that are vying for your attention and looking to pull you out of your float,
But the quieter whispers under your thoughts.
What tiny streams are gurgling beneath your to-do list?
Tune into the deeper layer of your awareness,
The deepest,
Coolest waters.
As you float your internal stream,
Wherever it takes you,
Notice there's nowhere else to be or go.
This is a beautiful moment with your natural,
Pure self that you can settle into and enjoy.
And in those deepest places,
Feel the fluids inside yourself,
The physicality of your body,
The moisture embedded in every aspect of yourself,
The weight of the water in your feet,
The grounded heaviness of your legs,
The fluid structure of your spine,
The grace of the rivulets of energy that run and tumble down towards your fingertips.
There are natural eddies and backwaters that you might pause in,
But continue being drawn into the deepest depths of yourself.
Put along enjoying this dip into the current of your soul.
Stay within these deepest depths and appreciate the several minutes of peace,
Quiet,
And tranquility here as a being of water,
Surrounded by water.
Gently become aware of yourself and your surroundings again.
Lick your lips and open your eyes.
Allow your breaths to become larger.
Straighten your legs to ground your feet again if your knees were bent.
And leaving the noodle tucked behind your armpits,
Bring your fingertips and palms to touch gently at your chest.
Inhale and feel the connection between the water inside you and the water around you.
Exhale and remain fluid in your approach to life today.
Thank you for practicing with me.
