
Gratitude
This guided gratitude meditation is intended to open your heart, as in our gratitude lie the seeds of our abundance. If you allow yourself to enter the sacred space of gratitude, the universe opens its big heart, and many good things begin to flow to you. Welcome to this meditation on gratitude.
Find a quiet space where you'll not be interrupted.
Make yourself comfortable and enjoy.
As you slowly begin to let go of the outside world,
Allowing your eyes to close and settling down to enjoy a deeper connection with all that is sacred to you,
Silently be thankful for this moment,
This space,
This opportunity and become aware that it is a gift to you.
So accept this gift with gratitude.
As you call in any protection you feel you might need on your journey within.
To begin the gradual process of letting go,
Start by taking in a deep breath and holding it.
And when you release it,
Feel yourself relaxing as the breath flows out of your body.
And when you are ready,
Take in another deep breath and once more just hold it.
And this time when you release that breath,
Release with it all the tension you feel in your body.
Now take one more really deep breath in,
Holding it,
And this time really,
Really let go as you breathe it all out,
All the way to the very bottom of that breath.
Gently bring your awareness to the state of your mind and if you find any thoughts wandering into and circling around in your mind,
Detach from those intrusive thoughts so you can safely put them away,
Where they can be dealt with later.
They are unimportant and somehow entirely irrelevant right now.
So once a thought wanders in,
Send it away until eventually these thoughts come drifting in only occasionally,
Only to leave again without you engaging with them.
There is great power in staying detached.
You are now ready to begin to relax your body so you can focus on your feet now.
And I wonder how long it will take for you to allow your feet to relax to the point that they seem to feel really light,
So light that you may begin to wonder if they are still there.
Knowing it doesn't really matter,
As you choose to allow that sense of lightness to gently run up your ankles and let it start swirling around your lower legs.
And as it moves up towards your knees,
You notice that infectious lightness as it creeps upwards,
Falling over your knees like a soft and gentle hand.
And that wonderful light sense of ease is inevitably moving up further up,
Flowing around your thighs,
Making its way up into your lower abdomen,
Your hips,
Your lower back,
And you become more and more relaxed as that amazing lightness keeps creeping up,
Moving up your vertebrae one by one,
To toeing upwards.
Are you aware that the lightness is now spreading into all your organs?
As it is if the lightness erases all your tension and stress,
As that lightness reaches your heart.
Become aware how strongly your heart is beating,
Rhythmically keeping you vital and alive.
So just fully connect with that pulsing beat as you allow the sense of ease and lightness to move up through your chest and into your shoulders,
Pouring down your arms and into your fingers.
Your arms are so light now,
You're not sure whether they are still attached to your body.
As that sense of lightness finally drifts into the vertebrae of your neck,
Up into those muscles supporting your head,
And from there it inevitably floats all the way up,
Releasing the muscles in your jaw,
Your cheeks,
Your brow,
Your forehead,
And finally your scalp.
And as your body now totally relaxes,
Your mind is suddenly free.
The time has arrived for you to turn in.
You are completely relaxed,
And now you are able to get in touch with the innermost part of you.
And as you reach in to connect with your own sacred being,
Your immortal soul,
I want you to there in your own silence,
Express your gratitude for this amazing moment,
When you have the time and space to touch and connect with the divine love that lives inside you.
Just allow gratitude to start to flow into your awareness.
And as you feel gratitude stirring deep inside you,
You may know that in our gratitude lie the seeds of our abundance,
And that nothing is more beneficial to the functioning of the human mind and body than experiencing gratitude.
Feeling grateful,
Being thankful,
Because when you feel gratitude,
Something inside you comes alive.
Nothing sets the forces of our universe in action quite as much as a grateful heart does,
Bringing you more and more of what you already are so grateful for.
I'd like you to now focus on your beating heart.
Find that beat in the stillness as you listen to the sounds of your body.
Can you feel that rhythm?
Now move your awareness out from your heart,
And follow it into all the spaces of your body,
Until you can fully connect with a pulse that your heart sends through your being.
Listen to it.
You can hear it when you are very still.
Feel it.
Every beat brings a little pressure,
And in a small release,
Repeat it over and over.
And as you connect with your pulse,
You know that you are alive,
Unless the liveness is yours to make of what you choose.
I want you to now search your subconscious mind,
And find the memory of an experience that you absolutely loved to have.
Maybe it was the first time you managed to get up on your baby legs to take that very first step in this world,
Or had your first taste of something delicious.
Or maybe it was that day that you discovered how much you loved floating in warm water,
Or the first time you felt totally safe.
It can be anything,
Just find that one experience you truly loved to live through.
And now,
I want you to hold in your mind the memory of that awesome experience.
Now color in that experience using all the details that you can access through your senses.
What can you smell as you live through that experience?
What do you see as you look around you in that beautiful moment?
What are the things you can touch in that space?
Are there any sounds that are easy on the ear in that experience you are having?
And most importantly,
How do you feel while you are having that experience?
I'd like you to now connect with that feeling,
Strongly connect with it,
And then hold on to that connection,
Allowing that beautiful emotion to flow through you.
And as you feel that emotion expanding,
Allow yourself to reconnect with the pulse you identified in your body a little while ago.
And then trace that pulse back to its source,
Your beating heart,
And feel how your heart seems to respond to the wonder you are feeling and experiencing,
Rhythmically pulsing it out into all that is,
Connecting you to everything.
And now I want you to become aware of just how grateful you can feel for this amazing experience,
For the fact that you have actually lived this beautiful moment.
You may know that by remembering that moment,
And feeling indescribable gratitude for having been blessed to live through that experience,
You are creating a space for more of it to flow to you.
You are drawing that amazing feeling towards you,
As your subconscious mind strives to actualize that feeling that you are gratefully remembering.
And notice how your heart seems to fill with a deep,
Unfathomable emotion,
Somehow expanding your being.
Allow yourself to drift in this magical space.
Just float into it and really feel it.
And from that beautiful space you are in,
Call up in your mind's eye the image of one person that touched your life for the better,
The one person without whom you would not be who you are.
It can be someone in your life now,
Or someone you used to know.
It can be someone who once brought you immense happiness or pain,
From which you eventually learned your greatest lessons in life,
Helping you grow stronger and wiser.
It can be someone who just once said something that stuck with you,
And that turned the course of your life around for the better,
Or someone who deeply affected you in ways they could never have known.
And when you have the image of this person in your mind,
I would like you to silently express to this person your sincere gratitude for the gifts he or she gave you by connecting with you in this life,
And spend a few moments expressing your gratitude to this person.
And now,
Gently reconnect with the pulse you can feel in your body.
Just be still and feel that pulse.
And then focus on your heart,
Sending out that pulsing rhythm,
And allow the gratitude you've expressed to that one person to flow into and fill your own heart.
Feel how your heartbeat seems to become stronger,
And how you become able to deeply connect to your beating heart.
And in this moment,
Be thankful for your inner wisdom that helped you to receive the gifts that this one person brought into your life.
See each gift that this person gave you,
And count each as a blessing,
Feeling grateful that you recognized the gifts for what they were.
And as you stay deeply relaxed,
I'd like you to choose one of the hopes you carry in your heart,
One of your beautiful dreams,
One thing that you would love to attract into your life.
Focus for a moment on this beautiful dream,
And discover what positive emotion is connected to this dream of yours,
This one thing you are hoping for.
And as you deeply connect to this dream,
You find it easy to connect with the positive emotion it attracts.
Will this one thing bring you comfort,
Or will your dream enfold you in peace,
Or will joy be the emotion that bursts out of your open eyes every morning that you are able to wake up to a life of living that dream?
Or does your dream signify freedom to you,
Or will living your dream elevate your ability to hope?
Just connect to all the positive emotions flowing forth from this one beautiful dream.
And now fully engage your powerful imagination,
That powerful tool you were born with,
And imagine actually having that one thing that you are hoping to have.
Imagine how you feel when you are living that dream.
Imagine that your dream simply flows into your life and your reality,
As if by some miracle.
Just feel how this makes you feel.
And now that you have that one thing that you always wanted to enter your world,
Now that you feel how you feel when you have that one dream come true in your life,
Allow gratitude to flood that scene.
Feel your heart expanding with gratitude for receiving what you never thought you would have,
Or achieve,
Or become.
Really feel it deeply.
And now as you have allowed your heart to be flooded with gratitude,
It is almost inevitable that you now allow your heart to pulse that gratitude through your body,
Filling all your cells with pure gratitude,
Expanding your life and your consciousness as you feel that pulse of gratitude flowing out,
Positively affecting all around you,
Changing your world and your reality until you feel that you have become gratitude.
So just spend a little time now while I stay silent,
Contemplating all the other things in your life that you can be grateful for,
Things like the fact that you are able to breathe,
That you are able to dream and hope,
That you have the chance to create a better tomorrow,
From your space of gratitude.
Plant little seeds of gratitude in your mind,
One for each little thing in your life that you can be grateful for.
You may know that when you were created,
You were created with a vivid imagination,
Just as you were given intelligence.
Know that your imagination is the most powerful creative tool you possess.
It is a precious treasure trove filled with possibility,
Because what you can dream you can become,
And so begin to imagine what you want to create every day.
And be grateful for the dream and for the fact that it is becoming real as you are imagining it.
The forces of nature are set in motion when you engage your imagination.
So be grateful each day for what you have and for what you dream and for what you know is already yours.
And know that in this gratitude,
Lie the seeds of your abundance,
As your brain builds new neural pathways each time you feel gratitude,
Literally opening up your world,
Creating space for new opportunities.
And as you stay deeply relaxed,
You can slowly start preparing to make your way back to the here and now,
Becoming aware of the sound of my voice.
And you may know that the gratitude and the peace and tranquility you've experienced today will remain with you,
Ready to float up any time you need to re-experience it,
Or need to reconnect with it.
And the more you take time out to relax and become still,
Living in gratitude every moment,
The more you will attract more of what you are grateful for in the outer world.
And you may know that energy follows thought,
From gratitude flows abundance,
And it begins with a choice to be grateful for the smallest things.
And this knowledge will float up whenever necessary,
Helping you live an abundant life.
And now I'm going to help you to come back to this room by counting from 1 to 10.
And on the count of 10,
You will open your eyes,
You will be wide awake and alert,
With all parts of your consciousness fully back in the room and ready to continue with your day,
Feeling totally relaxed and at ease.
