Welcome,
It's Dr.
Katherine Cooke-Atone.
I'm so glad you're here.
This is a practice that is part of the three intelligences embodied practices for eating disorder recovery.
A series designed to help you reconnect with yourself through compassion,
Curiosity,
And embodied awareness.
Each practice invites you to listen to three complementary sources of wisdom.
The wisdom of your body.
The wisdom of your mind.
And the wisdom of your heart.
Your body offers information through sensation.
Energy,
Movement,
And breath.
Your mind helps you observe,
Reflect,
Learn,
And make intentional choices.
Your heart connects with compassion relationships.
Meaning,
Purpose,
Hope,
And all the things that matter most.
As these practices unfold,
You'll also begin strengthening another important capacity.
The ability to notice.
The part of you that can pause.
Listen.
And gently bring together the wisdom of your body,
Your mind,
And your heart.
Today.
We practice that noticing together.
If you've just finished a meal,
Allow yourself to settle comfortably.
There is nowhere else you need to be for these next few moments.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Feel your feet meeting the floor.
Notice the support beneath your body.
And take one slow,
Easy breath.
And then another.
There is nothing to change.
Nothing to fix.
Simply arrive.
Notice your breathing.
The gentle movement of your chest.
The rise and fall of your belly.
Allow your breathing to continue naturally.
Now gently bring your awareness to your body.
Without evaluating,
Without measuring.
Without deciding whether anything is good or bad.
Simply notice.
What sensations are present?
Maybe warmth or fullness.
Comfort.
Discomfort.
Movement,
Stillness.
Perhaps you notice sensations that are difficult to name.
Every sensation is simply information.
Your body is always communicating.
And today you're just listening,
Simply listening.
Take another gentle breath.
Now notice your mind.
What kinds of thoughts are moving through your awareness?
Can you simply notice them?
Not as facts,
Not as instructions.
But as thoughts passing through your mind.
Imagine watching clouds move slowly across the wide sky.
Some clouds linger.
Others drift quickly.
Some are stormy.
Some are light and easy.
The sky remains.
Notice that there is part of you that observes,
That notices.
That noticing presence does not need to argue with every thought.
It just notices.
And returns.
Breath by breath.
Now gently return to your heart.
Turning right toward your heart.
Ask yourself,
What truly matters to me?
Take your time.
Perhaps a person comes to mind.
Perhaps a place.
Perhaps a value.
Kindness.
Creativity.
Learning family.
Friendship.
Healing.
Service.
Curiosity,
Love,
Purpose.
There is no right answer.
Simply notice whatever quietly arises.
Our hearts naturally move toward what gives life meaning.
Sometimes those deeper values become difficult to hear beneath the noise of everyday life.
Today.
Simply remember,
They are still there.
Waiting patiently.
Take another easy breath.
Now,
Invite your noticing self to become present.
The noticing self doesn't criticize.
It does not rush.
It does not force.
It doesn't expect everything to be easy,
Quick and simple or everything to be hard.
It just listens.
Can you notice your body?
Releasing judgment.
Really noticing without judgment.
Just,
I see you.
Can you notice your mind?
Without getting caught in every thought.
Just I see you.
I see you.
Can you notice your heart?
Without needing every answer today.
Let your heart search.
Let your heart want.
Let it sort stuff out.
Your heart is busy figuring out what matters.
Let it.
Take another breath.
Your body.
Your thinking self,
Your mind.
Your heart.
Three Sources of Wisdom the noticing self gently bringing them together.
Those.
Is the practice.
Now,
Control.
Not perfection.
Not certainty,
Simply returning again and again.
As we begin to close,
Allow yourself to appreciate this moment.
Not because everything feels easy.
I'm sure.
And for many of us listening to this,
It isn't.
But because you paused.
You listened.
You practice being present and maybe.
You've practiced being present when it wasn't so easy.
Recovery is built.
Through moments like this.
Moments of noticing.
Moments of compassion.
Moments of choosing to reconnect with yourself.
Before you continue with your day,
Ask yourself one final question.
As I move into the next part of my day,
How would I like to live?
How would I like to experience?
The rest of this day.
Allow whatever answer comes to arrive gently.
And maybe listen to the body.
The heart,
The mind.
What do they have to say?
Take one final breath.
As you continue your day,
May your body be heard with respect.
May your mind be met with curiosity.
And may your heart remain connected to what truly matters.
And may your noticing self Continue bringing all three together with wisdom and compassion.
Thank you for practicing today.
Until next time.
May you continue listening with your body.
May you continue choosing with your mind.
May you continue living.
With your heart.
And May you continue becoming more fully yourself,
One powerful moment at a time.
