Welcome,
Namaste.
My name is Carolyn.
Today's meditation is to help you focus on relaxing your body and connecting to your baby.
So come to a comfortable seat,
Either leaning against a wall or sitting in a chair,
Or lie down on your back with a bolster underneath your mid-back,
Your upper back,
And the back of your head.
Get comfortable.
And then start to drop into your breath.
Slow down the breath so that you can fully arrive in this moment as you are,
Enjoying long,
Conscious,
Slow breaths.
Exhaling out your mouth,
If that helps you to release and relax.
Place one hand on your belly and one hand on your upper chest.
Take a moment to tune in to the light in your heart and the light in your baby's heart.
Send your breath into the palms of both your hands,
Attuning to yourself and this special little being growing inside of you.
Send your soothing energy to yourself as well as the baby inside.
Feel free to keep your hands as they are during the rest of the meditation,
Or at any point you can bring them back onto the belly and the chest if you feel like you want a deeper connection.
To begin with,
We will focus on fully relaxing through the muscles in the body,
Giving yourself lots of love,
Attention,
And care.
It's so important to help replenish yourself.
It's so much work to grow a little baby inside,
And we often forget to give ourselves care and give ourselves this time and relaxation.
So enjoying your long exhalations,
Just think about letting go of all effort,
Releasing the doing part of yourself,
The active part.
Just for now,
Nothing to do,
Nothing else to worry about.
Take the focus down into your feet and imagine softening through the arches of your feet,
The soles of your feet,
And imagine all ten toes relaxing and releasing.
Bring your awareness up your legs,
Your calves,
Your shins,
Your knees,
And focus on your thighs.
Feel the heaviness in the thigh bones and fully letting go through your quads and your thigh muscles.
With every exhalation,
You can imagine releasing even deeper into relaxation.
Focus into your pelvis,
Your glutes,
The front of the hips.
Is there any gripping that you can release?
Let that go.
Take your focus up into your low back,
Your lumbar spine,
And around the front into the belly,
This very active part of the body on the inside.
And now just notice any hardness around the low back and even into the belly you might be holding,
Not even realizing it.
It's time to really relax and let go.
Focus up around the mid back,
The thoracic spine,
The upper back,
And the front,
The solar plexus,
And right up into the heart.
Breathe space and freedom into that whole part of the upper torso now.
Let go.
Take your focus up to the shoulders,
Front to the shoulders and the back around the shoulder blades.
With your breath sinking deeper and deeper into relaxation as you let go around your shoulders.
Become conscious of the arms now from your shoulders right down to your fingertips.
So much aliveness right into the palms.
You might feel warmth in the palms or tingling.
As you remain still,
Mindfully let go around every muscle in each arm bone.
In all ten fingers,
Let go.
And then lastly,
The face.
When we focus like this in meditation,
Sometimes other parts of the body compensate,
Around the eye muscles tense up because we're focusing very hard.
Envision all the muscles in your face fully melting and softening.
Almost so there's no expression on your face.
You're not trying to smile.
You're not trying to look a certain way.
Simply letting go.
This kind of relaxation is incredibly important to invoke not only every day through your wonderful pregnancy,
But also important to practice so that it's ingrained in muscle memory when you embark upon your labor journey,
Your birthing journey.
So that you can quickly tap into this kind of relaxation through waves of contractions.
Your body understands how to let go.
And also as a new mother,
Caring for your new little baby,
You already have a sense of easefully letting go in challenging moments.
Envision those times now if you haven't already.
And imagine what it really feels like to stay relaxed in your body,
In your home,
In your temple through challenges.
What is the breath like when you're so relaxed?
What's the expression on your face?
Trust that the little baby inside you will absorb all these feelings and sentiments of relaxation that you're practicing right now.
Baby benefits from all of it.
Send some calm energy to your beautiful,
Healthy baby.
It might help to place your hands on your low belly.
Keep relaxing deeply.
Know that your baby receives all of it.
Now lastly,
A little mantra,
A little affirmation to focus on within.
And again,
This might come in very handy in moments when you experience uncertainties or resistance in daily life to what's happening to your body.
Not every aspect of pregnancy is perfect and beautiful and sacred.
Some of it is challenging to adjust to the changes happening and the changes that are about to happen.
So let's use mantra to keep ourselves focused and keep ourselves relaxed,
Thinking to yourself now.
I am open to all the changes happening in my body and in my life.
May I be open to all the changes happening in my body and in my life.
Breathe into that intention,
Into that mantra.
May I remain open to all the changes happening to my body.
May I remain open.
Keep working with that mantra a few times a day if you can,
In a very relaxed physical state,
Reminding yourself to remain open to all these changes in your beautiful body and that are happening in your life.
Take another minute or two to remain in meditation if you have the time.
As you're ready,
You just move very slowly out of this and back into your day,
Maintaining a relaxed outlook on what's happening in life and to yourself.
Thank yourself.
Thank your precious little baby.
Namaste.
