This is a practice to ease your bones,
Your muscles,
Your spirit.
Come and sit here or lie down.
We rest so that we may rebuild and recalibrate all the ways the world wears us down.
This is a very healing practice.
It's very productive to pause and rest this way.
Receive the rest that awaits you here.
Let your breath be easy.
Gentle breaths flowing in and out your nose.
Feel your eye muscles unraveling.
Let the work of your intelligent mind melt away.
All the tension across the forehead from overthinking and overanalyzing.
Dear eyes,
It's time to rest.
Is there anything around your jaw or in your mouth that wants to release?
Allow your face to untangle from any kind of expression.
Find the way that you try to put your best self out into this world.
Dear face,
It's time to rest.
Notice the sensations across your shoulders and chest.
The way you hold yourself and the way you hold others can be left in the background for now.
Dear shoulders,
It's time to rest.
How is your breath?
Can you sense your breath into a relaxed low belly?
Can you let go in the face of fear or anxiety?
Dear belly,
It's time to rest.
This process takes time.
We can allow for a new way of being,
Of restful presence.
You may notice that something is between you and rest.
Some thought,
Some argument,
Some hurt.
Take it all in.
Putting your entire self amidst what feels stuck or permanent.
Rather than using this as a time to plan or understand,
Simply witness.
Witness how you might be over controlling.
Witness this mind that thinks it needs to know.
For now,
Witness and give yourself permission to rest.
Rest your focus on the cool waters of calm within.
Rest your focus on gentle breaths.
Rest your attention on releasing muscular aches and pains.
You can rest your bones,
Muscles,
And spirit into this entire space.
You are allowed.
You are allowed.
You are allowed.
You are allowed.
You are allowed.
You are allowed.
We rest so that we may rebuild and recalibrate all the ways the world wears us down.
This is a very healing practice.
It's very productive to pause and rest this way.
In fact,
It might invite in all the balance that we truly need.
And as we near the end of this soothing practice,
I'd love you to reflect upon how you can help yourself receive more rest without forcing it,
Without judging yourself when you forget.
How can I help myself receive more rest?
What does my practice of rest look like?
What does my practice look like?
Send yourself a little bit of gratitude that you've taken this time for yourself today.
That you committed to this incredibly productive practice of rest,
Setting everything else aside.
How you will nourish yourself moving forward will be unique to you.
You're allowed to find your own way.
You're allowed to take care of yourself in your own way.
I wish you well out there.
Thank you for practicing with me and thank you to all the teachers that we have.
Namaste.
