Welcome to day six.
Today's guided meditation is focusing on open awareness and focus on the breath.
Let us begin by taking a moment to allow your body to settle.
Find a comfortable position that allows your spine to be long but with a natural curve in the low back.
You may close your eyes or keep them open with a soft gaze down.
Let the belly and shoulders relax.
Today I will guide you through an open awareness practice.
Before we begin,
Take a full breath in and a long breath out.
Now along with the breath,
Find the natural rhythm in and out.
As you breathe,
The breath is like an anchor or a foothold.
As you observe what's happening right now,
As you allow yourself to notice whatever is arising,
You can decide for yourself if you want to dial up or dial down.
How aware are you of the breath at any given moment?
Notice giving equal open attention to whatever is arising.
Light questions can be helpful.
What sounds do you hear that maybe you didn't notice before?
What do your clothes or the air feel like on your skin?
Are there any smells around you?
Are there any sensations in your body?
This kind of active curiosity can reveal the more subtle parts of our awareness without getting us stuck or swept away by any one thing.
Where you realize you've gotten caught up in thinking,
Come back to the rest and simple clear awareness of what is here now.
Focusing on a few breaths before coming back to open awareness can also help settle the mind before you open up your awareness again.
As we begin to close this open awareness practice,
Come back to the focus on the breath,
Allowing the awareness of other things to fade into the background.
Going in and out,
Let us finish this open awareness practice by taking a full breath in and a long breath out.
Knowing that this practice is here for you at any point,
If you would like to rewind this recording and repeat it for a longer practice,
Feeling free to do so.
I thank you so much for allowing me this honor,
This privilege to guide you in your meditation.
I look forward to sitting with you in day seven.
Just using my friends.
