Times of change are accompanied by uncertainty. They can make us feel scared, overwhelmed, or alone. This meditation was designed for you to overcome overwhelm and ground yourself into the present. Change is happening every moment and by holding heartspace for it, we begin to transform our relationship to it. This meditation aims to do this for you. We live in times of change Be it the beginning or ending of the year,

A different environment,

Job,

Relationship or no habits we're facing Dealing with change also means dealing with what's unknown and unfamiliar Can make us feel scared,

Overwhelmed or alone In this meditation we'll be welcoming change in motion and transform our relationship to it So welcome beautiful being my name is Janelle Tai,

And I'm grateful to be guiding you today Before we begin set up right on a chair a cushion or anything else that feels comfortable for you Close your eyes gently and be right here as you are in the center of your world grounded between heaven and earth Breathe in and out and on your exhale let your lips touch making the sound of the humming bee like this Mmmmmmm Do this in your own rhythm for six breaths now Now breathe in and out in your natural rhythm checking in with your body Ask it how are you feeling today?

Become aware of any areas of tension pain or heaviness And allow them as difficult as they may be to be released into the ground with gratitude They've served you up until here now it's time to let them go Now imagine yourself as a tree and see the lower part of your body transforming into roots See and feel how they're plugging into the deep connection with the earth You are the loving awareness that's observing everything as it comes and goes Breathing in and out grounding your roots into the now loans Keep on par Now check in with your mind.

Ask it,

How are you feeling today?

Become aware of its state,

What is on its mind and are your thoughts raising of fear,

Doubt or worry?

Let it go.

Our minds are like the leaves in the wind,

They are swayed from one direction to another.

Allow them to be present without resistance.

Relax into the loving awareness that's observing everything as it comes and goes.

Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth,

Grounding yourself in the present moment just as it is.

And if your mind decides to take you other places,

Simply bring your attention back to your breath.

As you checked in with your body and mind,

Connect to your heart space.

Ask it,

How are you feeling today?

Become aware of any fear,

Sadness,

Grief,

Anger,

Doubt or worry.

And trust that you can allow yourself to feel.

Relax into the loving awareness that's observing everything as it comes and goes.

Take a few deep breaths elongating your exhale,

Feeling the expansion of your chest,

Connecting to your heart space and grounding yourself in it.

Now visualize the situation where change was or is heavy on your heart.

Perhaps it's the move to a new city or job,

Holding onto something or someone that has passed or the fear that things will never be the same again.

Whatever the situation is,

Give it heart space to simply be.

Breathe into it.

Any thoughts,

Emotions or sensations that arise,

Allow them to be in this space.

They are not here to scare you,

In fact they bring you a message.

Ground yourself in your breath knowing that your heart will be gentle and compassionate with them.

Ask them,

What are you trying to tell me?

What do I do with this information?

Is there anything else I need to know to release you?

Just like the heart of a tree that runs through its center is more resistant to decay,

So is our heart more resistant to fatigue,

It's resilient to change.

Often it's fear of the unknown that accompanies us in times of change,

But by holding space in our hearts we can transform fear into love.

Ground yourself in the connection you hold with your heart space,

Knowing that you can access it anytime.

Breathe in and out gently and steadily,

Relax into the spacious presence of the loving awareness that's observing everything as it comes and goes.

The Greek philosopher Herakles said,

Change is the only constant in life.

We are experiencing it every day,

Though sometimes we only recognize major change and we're blind to see the minor one that's happening every moment.

As you're connected to your heart space now,

Put your hand on your heart and breathe in and out gently.

With every breath our body is taking on a different form.

When we breathe in deeply,

Our tummy expands more intensively compared to when we breathe shallowly.

The cells that make up our bodies this year are not the cells of 20 years ago.

Just like our human form changes constantly,

So do our circumstances.

And when we remind ourselves that we're not the leaves in the canopy,

But the tree in our heart space,

Observing the change of the seasons as they come and go,

We feel deep connections to the earth below amid it all.

It's through our heart space that we feel deep connections all around.

In it,

Expanding with every breath.

With your hand on your heart,

I invite you now to make circles on your chest,

Giving it a soft rub,

Repeating after me,

Even though I may feel scared or overwhelmed by the changes ahead.

I love and accept myself just as I am.

I allow myself the freedom to connect to my heart space whenever I need.

I am loving awareness.

Feel your heart space open and expand.

Breathing in and breathing out,

Knowing you're well equipped to deal with whatever comes your way.

See and feel how you can embody this peaceful groundedness right now where you are,

At home,

At work and in your community,

Wherever you go.

Let's take one final breath together,

Inhale and exhale.

Now give yourself a smile and open your eyes.

I really liked the tree metaphor and realising that fundamentally I am not the leaves blowing in the winds of change. Instead I am like a big solid deeply rooted tree with my heart connected to the loving awareness of our existence. Thanks so much for this!
