The only thing constant is change,
And when nothing is changing,
Nothing is constant.
That's no more comforting than sitting in the cold without a jacket.
To accept the change as it's happening,
What you can do is take a moment.
Process the change.
Accept things are changing and what you're comfortable with not changing.
Think of ways to make a difference or ways to change your perspective.
Because truth be told,
The only thing we can change is ourselves.
Everyone and everything else is not under our control.
Again,
Sitting outside in the cold,
You have the choice to wear a jacket.
To pick one that will keep you nice and warm.
Or you have the choice to not sit outside at all.
But you can't change the weather.
Imagine if all of us were in control of that.
I know folks who are comfortable sitting in 68 degrees and others who prefer 80.
Nobody would be happy.
So what do we each do?
We change what we can,
Accept what we can't,
And think of ways to prepare for the rest.
Take a moment to consider what's changing in your life right now.
Is this something under your control?
Something you can impact?
Or something you have to accept?
Take a few deep breaths.
Because being consumed by the change can be overwhelming.
And it's okay to acknowledge it.
Acknowledge the racing in your heart or never-ending thoughts in your mind.
Breathe for a moment.
In and out.
Out and in.
Now settle on the thought of your breath in your chest as it rises up and down.
As you settle your breath,
Log the feeling in your mind.
How you were able to sit with the thought of change.
And whether you are walking away with a solution or acceptance.
Know that you are able to breathe.
