As I wake and my muscles begin to move,
My body starts to shift.
If I can adjust the weight from one leg to another and still circle my hips,
My bottom half can lead.
If I can lift my hands above head or straight out to the side,
My arms still have motion.
If I can flex my feet from left to right and back again,
My feet can carry me.
If I can plaster on a smile after rocking a frown,
My face can hold an expression.
And for this,
I'm thankful.
For the movement in every part of my body,
From the top of my head to the soles of my feet.
And now I'll breathe,
Filling my lungs and releasing.
Say to yourself,
I'm grateful for this body and all it can do.
I'm grateful for this body and for everywhere it can take me.
Thank you for meditating with me.
