Hi,
I'm Andrea.
I'm a registered music therapist and a Thought Field Therapy practitioner.
I'm here today to introduce you to the points that we tap when we're doing Thought Field Therapy.
And Thought Field Therapy is a little bit different from Emotional Freedom Technique,
Which is another tapping technique,
In that in Thought Field Therapy,
We don't have to tap through a whole sequence of points every single time.
We focus on a certain thought that's linked to an emotion and tap a shorter protocol for that particular emotion.
So it keeps us from having to exhaust ourselves going through the whole sequence of all the tapping points every single time and repetitively.
So in that,
We're more focused on the thought that we're having that's linked to that emotion and tapping those points.
So today I'm going to just give you some background about the different points,
Show you those different points,
And explain what feelings or emotions they might be linked to,
As well as the different organs in the body that were associated with Chinese medicine.
So the first one that we generally start with in Thought Field Therapy is the side of the hand.
It looks like a karate chop.
And we start with this point,
Which is linked to the small intestine,
Which is linked to fear of new experiences.
So we're just tapping gently on the side of the hand,
And maybe 10 or 15 times is all we need to do.
Okay,
So that's generally a good starting point.
It's sort of setting us up for the tapping ahead.
We're sort of making a change so that fear could be related to anything that we're not certain about.
The next tapping point I'm going to introduce is under the nose.
So it's above the upper lip and below the nose.
We just use two fingers to tap gently here at this point.
Again,
10 to 15 times is all we need.
And under the nose is a governing point.
This point is related to the feeling of embarrassment.
So embarrassment like,
Oh,
I just wet my pants,
Or embarrassment more like I should have been able to do that,
And embarrassed because we couldn't handle something.
Those feelings might come up when we're tapping that point under the nose,
That governing point.
Another feeling or emotion that's often related to embarrassment is the feeling of shame.
So to clear shame,
We're going to just tap on the chin.
And the chin is a central governing point as well.
So we're tapping that point for shame.
Couldn't do something.
Feel like I shouldn't have done something.
Feeling a little bit,
Yeah,
Of that feeling of shame.
Horrible feeling to have.
So that chin point can be really valuable.
The next point is the third eye,
Above the eyebrows.
You can tap with two fingers or you can tap kind of on each side.
It doesn't matter.
And this is related to the feeling of panic.
Oh no.
And it goes straight to our bladder.
So often when we feel that sense of panic,
We feel like we just need to sort of let everything go because we're just so shocked or in such a panic about something.
So that point attached to the bladder can be really helpful.
The next one is the outside of the eye.
This point is attached to the gallbladder.
And this is where our feeling of pride comes from.
Under the eye is connected to the stomach.
And this is sort of an obsession point or a point where we might think in our head,
Oh boy,
I've had a gutful.
Enough is enough.
Something that we've experienced over and over and over again.
The next point's a little bit tricky.
So this one always gets people.
It looks a little bit funny too.
We're just taking a couple of fingers under the armpits,
Kind of on the side and tapping into that point.
This is attached to the spleen or our self-worth.
Feeling like we could have built up our confidence a little bit.
If this is too hard for you to do,
You can reach one hand across and just tap on one side.
It doesn't matter which side and just tap there.
This is where we want to increase our self-worth.
The feeling that it's associated with is the feeling of rejection.
So the next one is a popular one.
This is the collarbone.
A lot of people really enjoy tapping on the collarbone and it's attached to the feeling of fear.
So anytime you're feeling a little bit uneasy about something or a little bit afraid,
This can be a really good point to tap into.
This also taps into the kidney point,
Which we know a lot of us are really depleted in the kidneys.
So often I think people really do resonate with this one because we're often stressed out and afraid of things coming up or stressed about things that we're unsure about.
Also could be related to anxiety.
The next few points are on the fingers.
So the next one is the little finger.
So just using two fingers to tap that little finger spot,
Which is for the heart.
And the heart is related to the feeling of anger or also forgiveness.
Forgiveness to others or forgiveness to ourselves,
Self-compassion.
And then the next one is going to be the middle finger.
This one is connected to the triple warmer and the feeling,
Feelings around relationships.
That can be an easy one to remember.
And then the index finger.
This one is related to the large intestine and letting go.
So we want to be careful when we use this one because large intestine is of course connected to the bowels and this can have other impacts on our physical body as well.
It can be a good thing if you need it.
And then another spot that's a little bit tricky is called the gamut spot.
The gamut spots between the little bones of the little finger and the ring finger and just a little bit sort of down on the hand.
When we tap into this gamut spot,
We're tapping into the thyroid.
And this one is related to any sort of pain.
It could be physical pain,
Could be emotional pain and emotional pain attached to depression.
So if you're feeling down,
This can be a spot that we're going to tap.
And if it's easier,
We're going to tap,
We can tap it on our lap.
And this one we're going to tap for longer.
We're going to actually tap this point for about 50 taps.
So just keeping that rhythmic tapping going.
And this is a clearing point for any sort of pain.
So this is a really great tapping point that we often use because it a lot of our emotions are connected to things that we want to clear or let go.
And the last spot that I'll give you today is not necessarily a tapping point,
But it's called the sore spot.
And it's just the area over the heart.
So we take our right hand over our heart and we can use two fingers or four fingers,
We can either just set our hand there,
You can actually sort of use this point at any time if you're feeling like you need to bring in some life force or strength.
Maybe you're sitting in a meeting and you're afraid to speak up or there's some something going on where you feel a little bit like you need that extra bit of energy,
That bit of boost,
A little bit of adrenal power.
This is our,
We think that it might be attached to the heart organ,
But it's not.
It's actually attached to the lungs and our breath and life.
So we can rub that spot like in a circular motion,
Either under our clothing or outside our clothing,
Or we can just hold our hand over our heart.
And this is just like giving ourselves a little hug.
Research actually shows that the same part of the brain lights up when we hold this point than when we receive a hug.
So it's a beautiful point.
So that gives you an idea of all these different tapping points that you might use and what the related emotions are related to,
And also the different organs that they're related to.
And so if you wanted to,
For example,
If you woke up one day and you felt like you had certain tapping points that you felt you needed for the day,
You could start with,
You know,
Maybe the karate chop and just,
I'm ready for the day ahead.
You don't need to use the words,
But sometimes it helps to focus the thoughts.
You might be feeling like,
Ooh,
There's something big coming up today.
I feel a bit panicked or feeling a bit anxious.
So I might add that above the eyebrows.
I might feel like,
Ooh,
Feeling a bit overwhelmed.
It's a bit too much.
It's a bit,
Oh,
I should be able to handle this.
So you might tap above the lip.
And then maybe under the collarbone,
Feeling like I want to let go of this fear related to this,
The day ahead and give myself a little bit of confidence and self-worth today.
I am worthy.
So these are all points that can be really helpful.
As you're going through,
You can watch my other videos that will go through specific,
Like I said,
Shorter sequences and patterns for different emotions.
So you don't have to go through all those points all the time.
Remember that when we're tapping,
We're rating the feeling that we're having,
Noticing where it is in the body and tapping until we get to zero.
So hopefully this helps.
And in the meantime,
Keep tapping.
