Hi,
I'm Andrea.
I'm a Registered Music Therapist and a Thought Field Therapy Practitioner.
In this video I will be guiding you through the process of Thought Field Therapy or TFT to address any pain that includes physical pain and emotional pain.
So the kinds of pain that you might be dealing with would be physical pain such as shoulder pain,
Hip pain,
Pain in stomach,
Headaches,
Migraines,
Any kind of physical ailment that you have.
This can also include emotional pain,
So pain caused by stress or trauma or loss,
Anything that causes any sort of emotional pain.
So what I'm going to do in this video is basically talk you through just the tapping process.
I'm not going to give you a whole lot of background.
If you want that you're going to need to watch or view other videos that I've done.
In this process it's going to be shortened to just going through the tapping sequence and that process alone.
So what we're going to do is begin to get comfortable in a chair sitting up with our feet flat on the floor to ground ourselves and bring to mind some sort of pain that you want to work with today.
So this pain again could be physical or emotional.
This can include the pain from grief and loss or it can be any kind of pain physically or emotionally.
So in thinking about that pain you might want to go back to the original sort of if there was an event that caused this pain you could go back to that original event.
Sometimes that's a memory that's quite strong in our minds where it all started and then it doesn't have to be that it can be any other memory associated with the pain or just that sensation.
So thinking about that pain where are you feeling it in the body and what is the feeling that you're associating with that pain?
You might close your eyes to sense into this a little bit.
So feeling through the body noticing where it's set,
What the sensation is and what the emotion is attached to that pain feeling.
And then I want you to rate that emotion or that feeling on a scale from zero to ten.
Zero is not at all and ten is very strong.
So it's not so important that you hit exactly the right number but we'll just use this number as you keep rating to compare to as we continue the process.
So opening the eyes and we'll start tapping beginning with the side of the hand.
Continue to breathe as you tap under the nose,
Over the lip using gentle pressure,
Under the arms.
You can either tap underneath both of the arms or if it's more comfortable you can reach around and tap one side or the other.
Tapping the collarbones and then the last point is the gamut spot which is between the bones of the little and ring fingers.
Tapping that spot and if it's more comfortable you can rest your hand on your lap to tap there.
Continue tapping with light pressure,
Continue breathing,
Keeping the feet on the floor and then stop.
Close the eyes.
Notice the emotion or the feeling in the body again.
Notice if it's shifted or changed and then rate that feeling again from zero to ten.
Don't worry too much about if the number has increased.
This is sometimes just an indication that you're aware of the issue more than ever and continue tapping if the number is decreasing but still not at zero.
If it's at zero you can still continue tapping or you can stop there.
So open your eyes again and continue tapping another round.
So starting with the side of the hand,
Tapping gently under the nose,
Over the lip,
Under the arms,
Whatever way is comfortable for you,
Collarbones and the gamut spot.
Again that point in between the bones of the little finger and the ring finger.
Keep tapping there.
You might set it on your lap.
Breathing,
Keeping the feet grounded and then stop.
Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath.
Feel into the body again,
Noticing any sensation or feelings and just noticing that emotion once again.
Rating that emotion from zero to ten and sticking with that emotion that's associated with this pain that you're feeling.
Opening the eyes and continuing with another round.
If the number is still one or above and if you're at zero you can continue to tap with us.
Side of the hand,
Under the nose,
Under the arm,
Collarbone and gamut spot.
Continuing to breathe and then stopping.
Close the eyes,
Breathe.
Notice any sensations in the body once again.
Notice if they've moved,
Shifted,
Changed in any way and then notice that emotion connected to the pain and rate that emotion again from zero to ten.
If you've become emotional or it's become too much you can always stop and take a break.
Join us when you're ready again or just continue to tap the side of the hand.
Sometimes we can avoid these feelings and they can build up inside of us and then all of a sudden the energy really moves and brings up a lot of emotions.
Tapping can allow that energy to be released and then rate that feeling again.
Opening the eyes and we'll continue with another round.
Tapping the side of the hand,
Under the nose,
Under the arm,
Under the arms if you prefer,
Collarbones and the gamut spot.
Continuing to tap,
Feet are on the floor,
Grounding,
Breathing,
Tapping with gentle pressure.
Stop,
Close the eyes,
Breathe.
Noticing again any sensation.
You might feel like the number is a bit stubborn in which case you can continue to tap the side of the hand or continue to repeat the sequence.
If the numbers come down to zero you might ask yourself is there anything left?
Sometimes there's that question mark at the end like did I actually get there?
I'm kind of looking for it but I don't feel it.
That's usually an indication that it's gone.
So now I'll take you through the gamut sequence which is the eye movements to sort of seal the deal.
So we're going to begin by just tapping that gamut spot and you can keep this going as I ask you to move your eyes as I move my fingers.
So you're going to keep tapping,
You're going to keep your head still and I want you to follow my fingers with your eyes as you continue to tap.
Following my fingers with your eyes,
Keeping the head still,
Following my fingers with your eyes.
Continuing to breathe through the sequence,
Continue tapping and noticing if your eyes get sort of caught up in any space,
Any place along the movement.
And now humming with me,
Happy birthday.
Counting out loud one to five.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five and humming happy birthday out loud again.
And now I want you to follow my fingers again with your eyes,
Continuing to tap on that gamut spot and the tapping process is now complete.
So you can continue to use this sequence if you feel like there's any perturbations still there,
Any disruption.
If you've gotten to zero,
You'll feel like that pain has just dissolved.
I have worked with people who have been so surprised that they've been in pain for so long,
Physical pain actually,
For so long and that after a tapping sequence,
Even just three rounds,
It's dissolved completely and then it remains,
They remain pain-free for weeks until they have to tap again.
So you might have to come back to it again,
Revisit this video or just revisit that sequence of tapping or simply just use that reversal point when you feel the pain coming on and that's just a point to sort of break that barrier and open up that energy.
So in the meantime,
Keep tapping and please support us by listening and sharing.
