During this meditation you will be invited into mindfulness as you enjoy your cup of coffee or tea and cultivate a sense of awareness to our edible consumption. Becoming aware of all of the conditions that were necessary to be met in order for you to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea brings us into gratitude and gives us an ability to be grateful for the present moment.

Welcome to this short coffee and tea meditation.

The purpose of this meditation will be to become mindful and cultivate awareness of the present moment while we're doing everyday things like drinking our coffee and our tea.

So I imagine that you are now seated in a comfortable place either at a table on a chair or on the couch or if you prefer a meditation cushion that's also perfect.

And make sure that you have your coffee or tea or whatever warm liquid that you would like to drink during this meditation in front of you.

And now just put the cup of coffee or tea in between your two hands and feel the warmth radiating through the cup into your hands.

You can close your eyes or you can leave them open.

And we start to become aware of all of the conditions that made this cup of coffee or tea possible.

All of the farmers,

All of the workers collecting the coffee or the tea and the process of transporting and packaging and the workers at the supermarket to put it on the shelf.

And the money that you had to earn in order to be able to pay for it.

And the work that you did to make it.

Maybe boiling water or pressing a button on an espresso machine.

We can be grateful for all of the elements that went in to making this cup of coffee or tea.

And we can see that in this coffee and tea,

It is so much more than what we see.

And so we begin to cultivate a sense of gratitude and understanding and thanks.

And now with this feeling,

You can bring the cup of coffee or tea up close to your lips.

And maybe before you take a sip,

You can smell it.

Smell the beautiful aromas,

The herbs or the rootiness of the coffee.

Maybe you can close your eyes and just enjoy the sensation of smelling your coffee.

And as you bring the cup towards your lips,

You can either choose to keep your eyes open or closed and slowly take a sip.

A beautiful,

Wonderful sip.

And now you notice all of the excitement that your taste buds are feeling,

Enjoying this beautiful sip of coffee or tea.

And as you take another sip or another smell,

We can become intimately aware of the fact that any everyday action we do can be done with mindfulness and presence and understanding that there are so many other conditions that needed to be met in order to make this moment happen.

Even for you to come on to listen to this meditation.

And all of those moments bring us here into the present moment.

And so as you finish your cup of coffee or tea,

I invite you to enjoy every sip and the warmth that the cup brings your hands and the feelings and the sensations in your mouth and with your taste buds.

And bring gratitude and presence to this moment of drinking coffee or tea.

And I want to thank you for practicing and enjoy your cup of coffee or tea.
