Brandi Matheson

Brandi Matheson is a passionate mindfulness and meditation teacher who integrates mindfulness into her work as a mental health professional and therapeutic counsellor. She received her foundational training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through the UMASS Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness and later completed advanced MBSR training at the University of California San Diego’s Center for Mindfulness. Brandi also had the privilege of attending a 5-day residential training with Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of the MBSR program. In addition to her MBSR expertise, she is a qualified teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion, a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor, and a registered therapeutic counsellor with over two decades of experience working in the mental health field. While her primary training is rooted in secular mindfulness, Brandi is also deeply knowledgeable about Vipassana meditation and the Dharma. She has studied Buddhist philosophy and practice extensively with revered teachers such as Michelle McDonald, Jesse Maceo-Frey, Steven Smith, Adrianne Ross, and Michael Stone. She remains committed to her own growth through regular participation in online and in-person intensive meditation retreats. Above all, Brandi is devoted to sharing the transformative power of mindfulness and self-compassion while continuously refining her own practice through ongoing contemplative work.
