My dear fellow being,
I'm aware I know nothing about your situation,
Thoughts,
And battles,
But I can offer this.
May it bring you some love and light into the dark nights.
Loss is an inevitable experience in our lives.
It's most likely the one we fear the most and find the hardest to deal with.
We may experience a hard time having lost a loved one,
A family member,
Friend,
Pet,
Or something else dear to us.
We may have trouble accepting this out of our control change.
We may feel like the grief is eating us up and we don't see the end of it.
Wherever you are on your journey of dealing with grief and loss,
Whatever you may feel,
Acknowledge that your way is the right way for you right now.
As you walk on your path,
Your ways of dealing with it may change.
Trust that at any given stage,
Your way is the right way for you to heal and to reconnect to your inner strength.
Let's begin.
Find a comfortable seating position with your spine erect and close your eyes.
If you like,
Lean your back against the chair or wall.
Let go of any tension you might be feeling in your shoulders or neck.
Now start focusing on your in and exhale.
Pay attention to the air leaving and reentering your nose as you breathe in and out.
Feel your body expand with your in-breath and contract with the out-breath.
I will ask you now to follow my voice.
Breathe in mindfully through your nose on the count of four and breathe out through your mouth on the count of four.
Let's do this together for a couple of times.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Continue to breathe like this on your own for a couple of minutes.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Concentrating on the breath gives your mind a task,
A focus point.
It allows your mind to rest and reset.
Now return to your natural breath.
Place one or both of your hands on your heart.
Keep your eyes closed.
Allow your heart to represent a healing space for you.
Open up your heart to receive love.
May you feel and receive the vibrations of love I'm sending over to you right now.
You're not alone.
You're being loved.
Observe the emotions that are arising in your body and repeat after me.
I invite the feelings I'm feeling right now and I accept them.
I know they are temporary like this moment.
To the extent that feels comfortable for you,
Imagine you're sitting with your loved one for one last time appreciating each other's presence.
Observe the emotions that are arising in your body and repeat after me.
I invite the feelings I'm feeling right now and I accept them.
I know they are temporary like this moment.
Allow yourself some moments of closure by asking yourself,
What would you want to tell them?
Or what would you want to hear from them?
Observe the emotions that are arising in your body and repeat after me.
I invite the feelings I'm feeling right now and I accept them.
I know they are temporary like this moment.
It might be that tears will find their way into your eyes.
Let them.
They are watering the healing seeds of your wounds.
If you find your mind wandering or ruminating in pain,
Acknowledge the pain and return to your breath.
Breathe in and breathe out.
On your journey,
You may experience cloud bursts,
Short sudden floods of rain,
Feelings of sadness,
Disbelief and anger may wash over you.
Accept and stand in the rain of grief.
Let it come over you and know that it will pass,
My dear one.
You will find new ways home to acceptance,
Belief and hope.
May you take solace and trusting your inner strength.
May you take solace and the impermanence of every moment.
May you take solace and knowing you are loved.
May you take solace and the light of your breath.
If you feel it will help,
I invite you after this meditation to sit down and write a love letter to the one you lost in dedication of your shared journey.
And remember,
There is a divine connection between two hearts that be together once.
There is light coming into the cracks of your heart.
And there is a home in the healing space of your soul.
Breathe in and breathe out.
You got this,
Dear one.
You'll get through this.
You're stronger than you think.
I'm Janelle Tai and I'm sending you much love and encouragement in your healing journey.
Namaste.
