Give yourself a pat on the back! Striving for the never-ending horizon is something we find ourselves doing often. Completing one task and moving straight to the next. It is important to acknowledge all the progress you have made and re-arrive in presence before leaping off on the next adventure. Al will gently guide you to smile as you look back and recognise the achievements you have made, re-arriving in the now and grounding before taking flight again.

Welcome back to the guided meditation toolkit or welcome if this is your first time experiencing a meditation.

So we're here to guide you through some of the major challenges that we face as creatives,

Open,

Curious thinkers and doers on our path.

And this meditation specifically is here to help you deal with the feeling we all go through when we really feel that we are just not making progress.

We feel that we are stagnant and just not productive enough.

And the never ending horizon can creep its way into our minds when it comes to judging our progress.

Sometimes it's nice to just look back with a new lens to see what we have achieved.

So when you're ready and if you're comfortable too,

Just gently close your eyes and make sure that you're in a comfortable posture,

Either sitting on the floor or in a chair.

Just wherever it is for you that means you'll be able to sit comfortably and immerse yourself into the meditation.

Just wherever you are though,

Make sure that your spine is nice and straight and erect.

So if you need,

Just imagine you have just a thread from the crown of your head pulling you up towards the sky,

Elongating your spine.

And when you've found your posture,

Just take three deep breaths into your navel or your belly button,

Just to really sink in to your seat.

And as we go into the meditation,

Just thinking about for yourself and how you relate with today's meditation on progress and achievement and forever wanting to achieve more.

Maybe this is something you're going through now or maybe it's just something that you do go through often and you'd like something,

A tool to help deal with it.

But right now,

Just setting your own motivation or intention for this meditation and what you'd like to come out the other side feeling.

And then as you take your next inhale,

Just want you to imagine that you're filling up a tube that runs down your spine.

And so your breath comes in through your nose and runs down your spine all the way down to your sit bones.

And then as you exhale,

The breath runs up your spine through the tube and back out your nose.

And so as you breathe for the next little while,

Just continue visualizing your breath moving up and down your spine just like this.

And just start to notice the space between the inhales and exhales,

Just the little moments of stillness where the breath isn't moving in either direction.

Just noticing the space and also visualizing the movement of the breath up and down the spine.

And I'll just invite you,

If they're not already,

Just to turn your palms upwards to the sky just to create more openness and more space.

And just a question for yourself,

This feeling of not having achieved what you feel you should have,

Does that serve you?

And does that really help you move forward effectively?

It is important to feel it sometimes,

But right now,

Does it serve you?

And sometimes we only judge what we've achieved based on work-related activities,

And we only call work-related achievements achievements.

But expanding your awareness over the wholeness of your life,

Across your work,

Relationships,

Health,

Creativity,

Just general life admin.

And looking at the last 24 hours,

Of course,

You've achieved many things.

If you're able to,

Just take your right thumb and index finger and just hold onto your left thumb.

So holding onto your left thumb with your right thumb and index finger.

And just put a little bit of pressure onto the pad of your left thumb.

And just feel how maybe that gently calms you slightly.

And in this moment,

Maybe there is the idea or a self-image that you are an underachiever,

That you are this underachiever.

And if you notice this,

And if you identify with being an underachiever,

Just ask yourself if this is real,

If this really serves you right now,

To be holding that image of yourself.

And then just gently pick up that belief,

That image,

That title,

And just place it on the shelf to the left so we can move forward.

And in your mind's eye,

Just imagine a lovely to-do list or just a list to the left that spans not only just your work life,

But it spans the wholeness of your life.

It's the list of all the things you've achieved,

Whether they're work-related or not.

And in your mind's eye,

Just start populating the list one item at a time of all the things,

Little or big,

That you've done in the last 24 hours.

Things even as small as making contact with somebody need to be counted.

So just go back through the last 24 hours and just give yourself credit for all the little things that have been done across the wholeness of your life,

Not just work.

And just notice what it feels like to see the list slowly populating.

And maybe it takes you to think of a couple of things,

But the rest just start to come in.

So we get momentum by starting with these small successes and then leading on to maybe the bigger ones.

And just sitting with this image of this list in your mind of the things you have achieved,

Just bring a gentle smile to your mouth,

To the eyes,

Just for the corners of your eyes rising up and your shoulders.

And just sit with the feeling of knowing that you have actually achieved something.

And just noticing how much more energy,

Excitement and inspiration you have to create now that you've just let go of the story of underachievement and not making progress.

So in your mind's eye just let the list fade away.

And just slowly bring your awareness back to your body.

Hopefully you feel a little lighter,

A little clearer,

Because you've of course achieved many things.

And the mechanism we use to judge how much we've achieved is very often just our own mind,

Which also very often has incredibly high expectations for ourselves and usually a slight perfection bias.

So that remember that you can always sit down and look back and just choose to be aware of all that has been achieved.

And maybe decide to write down three things each night before you go to sleep.

Just so that you're having these constant check-ins with yourself instead of letting it build up.

Just take three deep breaths,

Exhaling through your mouth each time.

And then when you're ready with a smile just gently blinking open your eyes.

And now hopefully you're able to move forward with appreciation for what you have achieved.

I look forward to seeing you on one of the other meditations in the toolkit.

If ever you feel you need to rebalance,

Realign,

Or just remember something that may help you move forward more powerfully.

My name is Al from Realize Float and I look forward to seeing you again.

Much love and enjoy the senses.

Had to laugh with lightness when making the mental list of everything I achieved in the past 24 hours when all I’ve been focusing on is one thing I could have done better! Silly stories we tell ourselves and wasted precious energy! Thank you, Al! Namaste. πŸ™β€οΈ

What a wonderful idea to help us see our progress in every area of our life. We tend to overlook our daily accomplishments and our baby steps for inner transformation. Thank you !
