Welcome Radiant Soul,
My name is Nola Bloom and today I am sharing a meditation on forgiveness.
Cultivating forgiveness is an important step on the path of personal and spiritual growth.
Through forgiveness we begin to loosen the weight we carry in our hearts and create space to live with more ease,
Compassion,
And clarity.
The journey of forgiveness often begins with remembering that we are human,
And that humans sometimes act in harmful or unconscious ways.
These actions often arise from unhealed places within the heart,
Places that we are unknowingly projecting onto others.
When we hold tightly to anger or resentment towards another person,
It's our own heart that continues to suffer.
Forgiveness invites us into a deeper understanding that we are responsible for how we feel,
Not for the actions of others.
And it is here,
In this responsibility,
That our true power lives.
This is the heart of forgiveness.
So go ahead and get yourself comfortable.
Close down your eyes and settle the breath.
Simply observe the breath moving in and out of the body.
Take a deep breath in and a slow breath out.
Feel the shoulders relax and the body releasing tension.
As you take your next inhale,
Gently guide the breath right into the heart centre.
Rest your awareness here for the next few breaths.
We'll begin with a few forgiveness affirmations to help cultivate the inner landscape for this practice.
You may repeat them inwardly or voice them out loud,
Allowing them to land in your own time.
Holding onto anger does not serve me.
My happiness is more important than holding a grudge.
We all make mistakes,
Including me.
I cannot change another person,
But I can change how I relate to them.
I choose forgiveness and release the burdens of my heart.
Now let's take a few moments to allow each affirmation to touch the body,
Mind and heart.
Take a big breath and bring your awareness to a person you feel ready to forgive.
Someone who may still trigger you.
Someone where holding onto resentment feels like it is limiting your ability to live fully and freely.
You may notice sensations in the chest or heart space.
If so,
Simply acknowledge them with kindness.
Stay present with whatever arises.
Holding this person gently in your awareness.
Reflect for a moment on the circumstances surrounding the hurt.
Consider what may have been happening in their life or inner world that led them to act in the way they did.
Now imagine yourself walking through a beautiful garden on a warm summer's day.
Soft sunlight filters through the leaves,
Warming your skin.
Birds and butterflies move gracefully through the air.
The gentle aroma of flowers invites a sense of calm and serenity.
Just ahead,
You notice a graceful archway leading onto a quiet,
Inviting path.
You begin to walk along this path,
Allowing your fingertips to softly brush the flowers as you pass.
Your heart feels steady and calm.
As the path curves,
You notice someone seated peacefully on a wooden bench.
As you draw closer,
You recognize them as the person you wish to forgive.
They have been waiting for you.
They are open and willing to listen.
You sit beside them and gently meet their gaze.
Take another slow,
Nourishing breath.
Silently or softly repeat these words,
Allowing them to feel true for you in this moment.
You hurt me and my trust has been broken.
Holding on to this pain has caused me suffering and I am ready to let it go.
As best I can right now,
I choose to forgive you.
I forgive you because forgiveness creates openness and freedom in my life.
I thank you for the lessons this experience has offered me.
I wish you peace and happiness on your path.
As you hold their gaze,
You notice the heaviness in their eyes begin to soften.
They simply say thank you.
I will leave you now and thoughts of me will no longer disturb your peace.
They stand and walk slowly towards the edge of a forest nearby.
You watch as their figure becomes smaller until they dissolve completely into the landscape.
Breathing in the fresh air of the garden,
You feel lighter.
A weight has been lifted.
The space they occupied in your heart is now free.
Take another few slow breaths right into the heart center.
With each breath,
Imagine a gentle white light surrounding and opening the heart.
Allow this light to expand through the chest,
The shoulders,
The arms,
The legs and throughout the entire body.
If any lingering emotions remain,
Let this soft light wash over them,
Dissolving them with compassion.
Now repeat silently,
I am free to move forward in my life.
Gently bring your hands to heart center in Anjali mudra and bow your forehead towards your hands and pause here.
Sensing the spaciousness and lightness within your chest,
Offer a moment of gratitude for yourself,
For this moment,
And for the power of forgiveness that resides within your heart.
Namaste.
