Welcome.

My name is Celie Roberts,

And I'm the founder of the Biomedical Institute of Yoga and Meditation.

Today,

We're practicing meditation for increasing vitamin D levels,

Serotonin and balancing the serotonin.

So we want to do this for mental health,

For immune health,

Hormonal health,

Digestive health,

Reproductive health and sleep health.

If you can,

Find a place in your home or your garden that's quiet,

Peaceful and filled with the sunlight.

You want to meditate with the sun.

We want to meditate with the sunlight to the body.

We want to absorb the sun's rays and receive as much all over body sunlight as possible.

So you might use your swimwear or expose certain parts of the body to the sun for a 15-minute practice.

I reference the work of Dr.

George Jelinek.

He has MS but displays very few of the symptoms while still holding the disease in the body.

He follows certain regimes,

And one of them is 15 minutes of all over bodily sunlight every day where possible.

And we know sunlight for melatonin levels,

If we receive it to the eye at about mid-morning,

Then this can balance melatonin levels or increase melatonin levels at the right time to help sleep.

We also see a very small link between microbiome health and sunlight.

And we know that certain amount of light during the reproductive cycles,

The menstrual cycles in women will balance out the menstrual cycle for some.

And what we all know is that we will increase levels of vitamin D and serotonin,

Which assist in mental health and immune health.

Lying on the back in Shabasana,

If you prefer to remain seated.

Yogis and in Ayurveda,

To treat depression,

We would face the sun facing east in the morning and allowing the sunlight to hit the third eye or what we might call the pineal gland to balance and stimulate serotonin and melatonin levels.

I am going to teach this meditation lying down,

But please follow along in a seated position if you wish.

Bring your attention to the forehead.

Allow the forehead to absorb the natural sunlight.

The rays of sunlight.

Allow the eyes to become very still.

Feel the warmth and the touch of the sun on the face.

Letting the rays of sun and warmth be absorbed by the skin.

Feel the sunshine on the chin and the lips.

Feel the sunshine on the throat.

Absorb the rays of sun through the chest.

The heart.

Become at one with the heat,

The light,

The absorption of the sun into the body.

Allow the abdomen to rise and fall with your breath.

And absorb the sun particularly on the exhale.

Let the sun in.

Allow the sun to affect the digestive organs.

In Ayurveda,

We use sunlight,

Traditional Indian medicine,

To heal digestion and reproduction.

We can find certain links in research to show us that this is possibly a truism.

Let the sun assist with digestion and reproduction,

Balancing hormonal cycles no matter what age you are.

Let the sun come down the left leg,

The feeling of warmth,

The energy,

The prana reaching into the left leg.

Let the energy,

Warmth and light of the sun caress the right limb.

See if you can feel the sun on the toes,

The cracks between the toes,

Sunlight on the feet,

Maybe even hitting the sole of the foot,

Depending on your positioning.

Wherever the sun hits,

Feel it fully.

Absorb and feel that sensation.

If you can,

Place the palms to the sun.

Allow the palms to really enjoy the energy of the sun.

Let the palms almost soak up the sun,

Giving the energy and life force.

Using the high sensitivity of the hands,

See if you can absorb the awareness or sensitivity of warmth,

Energy and prana.

See if you can feel the prana of the sun in the hands,

The energy of life in the hands.

Enhanced by the sun.

If you are in the lying down position,

Roll on the belly and put the sunlight to the back.

Turning gently,

Support the head with the forearms and breathe gently,

Alternatively with the pillow.

And allow the back of the head to absorb the sunlight.

Allow the back of the neck to feel the sun.

Allow the sun to feel the back of your chest.

Allow the warmth to heal,

Calm,

Take away tension and pain.

As you breathe in and out,

Observe the spine,

Its lengthening,

Its contraction.

Using the breath to reduce inflammation and cortisol and the sunlight to improve our immunity through the production of vitamin D.

Let the sunlight hit the lower back with a sense of compassion and love of this life-giving energy,

This source and reverence to a sun that literally keeps us alive.

Revering the sun in your own gentle way,

Allow the sunlight to travel with awareness through the left leg,

The left thigh,

Back of knee,

Calf and ankle,

Into the left foot.

And with that same sense of reverence,

Do this on the right side,

Allowing the sun to travel from the right buttocks,

Right thigh,

Right knee,

Right calf,

Right ankle and right foot.

And really absorb the compassion,

The love,

The life-giving properties of the sun,

Its light and its love.

I wish you health and happiness,

Peace,

Compassion and very,

Very good health.

May you be happy,

May you be healthy,

May you be at peace.

May your whole life be truly blessed and may the long-time sun shine upon you.

A wonderful, educational and well guided sunshine meditation. I have numerous health issues and depression that intensifies during the cold Midwest winters. Grateful to have discovered this practice as a way to combine the healing sun with morning meditation. I will continue to return to this anytime the sun is shining through my windows…until I can do it outside. Thank you so much for creating this healing, and fun way to incorporate added healing to my day. 🙏☀️ UPDATE: the sun only shines thru my window in a position to do this practice beginning in January. Just over a year ago I found this meditation and it had profound benefits, as I used it every day when the sun was out. I feel much gratitude to be able to practice it feeling the sun again. There is 6” of snow with below zero temps on the other side of the glass window …it’s a blessing to feel such warmth and utilize this practice. I can’t recommend it enough 🙏🏼it is one of my favorite forms of self care. For these minutes my stress & pain melt away and with the compassionate guidance I feel safer in my body. I now struggle to not spend the entire day sitting in the sun once the practice ends. 💞

Loved every minute of it. Even though it is raining outside((( felt the effects of the sun despite its absence somehow. The power of visualization in action. Plan to incorporate into my life on a regular basis. Did this practice throughout the YEAR (or more, but who’s counting? 🤓 With deep gratitude for Celia who continues to impress me w/ her ability to combine science and contemplative practice, and does it so well. Special appreciation for the Radical Authenticity in the delivery 👏🏻👍🏻💖🌱 Namaste, Celia and Bravo on so many levels to you 💞
